Delores Fossen is a brand new author in my list and “Maverick Sheriff” was a surprise package of danger, suspense and love.
First in a new series titled “Sweetwater Ranch”, Maverick Sheriff brings us up close and personal with Cooper McKinnon and his family steeped in a past of betrayal and murder. As close as he is with an ongoing murder trial that hits very close to home, he is a man of honor and integrity and he wears justice on his sleeve.
A chance meeting with the Assistant DA, Jessa Wells and her adopted son Liam, with a rare blood type, sets the ball rolling for a series of events of danger and threat that seem to tie him with Jessa and his past. Jessa is the attorney trying to put a closure to a decades old murder, even as she fights her feelings for Cooper. She loves Liam with her very being and would lay her life for him.
Danger and circumstances bring Cooper, Jessa and Liam under one roof. As Cooper and Jessa try to come to terms with their feelings for each other, they join forces to put an end to the threat hovering around Liam and Jessa.
This is a fast paced, adrenaline pumping page-turner. A definite enjoyable read as Delores keeps the suspense and thrill on every page, and it is also an introduction to the many facets of the McKinnon family, as they try to mend fences and give the past a burial, in the forthcoming books of the series. I am definitely looking for the next book in the series.
