Here comes another first for me – Anna Sullivan’s “Hideaway Cove”, second in her Windfall Island Series. Set off the coast of Maine, Windfall Island is a charming and lovable cove, of people who have lived there all their lives, of protecting their own townspeople, and of legacies and secrets.

Jessi Randal has lived her whole life on the island and she runs a charter plane service with her friend Maggie (Temptation Bay). Holden Abbot comes to the island in search of a missing heir of the Stanhope’s.

Left alone when she gets pregnant with Benjamin, Jessi has survived and created a whole new life around Benji. An excellent mother and a great friend, she sacrifices all her needs and desires to raise her son, and she does a fine job. When confronted with Benji’s father, loved the way she stands for herself and her son. The dialogue of a girl deserted, the pain of an unmarried mother raising her son alone amidst gossip, the strength and conviction of a woman who had managed to survive, was a brilliant read. I was never so proud of Jessi when she makes Lance’s entrance into their lives miserable.

Hold is the mesmerizing guy who falls for Jessi and loves her son unconditionally. As he continues to research and search for the missing heir, he breaks down the walls around Jessi. The possibility that Jessi and her son may be heirs bring out all the protective instincts in him. Love the way he goads Jessi into thinking of her needs and desires, and he was man enough to acknowledge that he is irrevocably in love with her. Their relationship was one roller-coaster ride of secrets, pain, stubbornness, love and finally trusting each other with their lives. What an enjoyable read!

And the heir is still on the loose. Anna Sullivan maintains the intrigue and mystery surrounding the missing heir and the link to Windfall Island, leaving us wanting for more. Hideaway Cove can be read as a standalone, but for the uninitiated, it may be more pleasurable to start with her first book, “Temptation Bay” (Maggie and Dexter). I enjoyed reading it out of sequence, but “Temptation Bay” is alreayd in my list of TBR 🙂

A very charming, enthralling and captivating love story with a twist of mystery! Can’t wait to read the third in this series, “Secret Harbor”, and the mystery of the heir may just get a closure.

Lisa Jackson writes some intriguing mystery thrillers and always loved them. I really loved her “McCaffertys” series. In her “To Die” series, Selena Alvarez and Regan Pescoli take the front seat as detectives in Grizzly Falls, Montana.

There is a lot happening in Grizzly Falls this time. A couple of bodies of young women appearing with their ring fingers missing, keeps Pescoli and Regan on their toes. Added to this, Dan Grayson gets shot in a previous story and now he is in coma with no chance of recovery, and the new fill in sheriff Hooper Blackwater has big shoes to fill and appease the residents of Grizzly Falls.

In parallel, Anna Marie is on the run from her psychotic ex-husband and she seems to have become the mistress of disguise trying to stay safe. Unfortunately her plans to stay safe and get help from Grayson goes down the drain and she realizes, has another past lover boy on her trail as the bounty hunter.

“Deserves To Die” is the sixth in this series. Reading it alone would be more enjoyable as Lisa Jackson tries to bring new developments with the Graysons, changes in Alvarez’s life, but her true fans may not like it as much as the others. It definitely has some exciting moments and the ending was real good. Somehow bringing in Grayson’s family did not sit very well with me, unless it is leading to more in her future books in this series.

All in all, it’s definitely not Lisa’s best, yet it is good enough for a quick read.

It’s been a while since I read a book by Susan Anderson and “No Strings Attached” was refreshing and a nice read.

Tasha and Luc, two strangers meet in the Bahamas and end up spending time together. Unfortunately with Luc working undercover as DEA and an unfortunate twist of events lands Tasha in the Bahamian jail for a couple of days and Luc is incognito.

Fast-forward seven years and call it fate, Luc and Tasha end up seeing each other at Luc’s half brothers’ home. Seven years apart has not dimmed the feelings that Luc has for Tasha. And Tasha still carries the hurt and painful memories of those two days and having been deserted by Luc.

As much as she tries to stay away from Luc, her silly heart plays a different tune. Tasha is one strong woman who does not let her past dictate her mind and courageously moves forward with her life despite the trauma of those two nights in jail. As much as she is dogged by nightmares, she doesn’t let them weaken her as a person and become a victim. Vulnerable, yet strong and brings out the protective instincts in spades.

Luc is tenacious in trying to get to the bottom of what had happened seven years ago. When the truth comes out, with guilt and pain, he tries to make amends. Knowing that he was not responsible for what had happened to Tasha seven years ago, does not make him feel any better and his persistence finally breaks the walls around Tasha’s heart.

No Strings Attached is a sweet story of two people finding themselves again, and rebuilding a life of love and trust.

Blood and nationality were stripped away and status and wealth meant nothing here…..

Taken away by force and an obsession that surpasses all reasonability, Morgan Gaelord becomes Dusk, and ends up in the hellish undergrounds of the Czech Republic. Even as she endures the brutality and torture, she hangs on to a ray of hope to escape the cruelty and evil. And that ray of hope gives her a new life, yet she cannot escape the nightmares of her past. Even as she forges ahead with a new lease of life, looking over her shoulder has become a habit. Lots of embers for her here…..
Hunted-JayceeClark-July2014

Lincoln Blade is her savior working undercover for Interpol, but saving innocent and brutalized girls does not seem to give him any peace. Giving these girls an opportunity to start a new life with a new face and a name does not ease the guilt he carries of the justice that never saw the light of dawn. Now with Morgan in his life, together they need to survive the new threat that comes their way as the girls from Blade’s past end up dying and its their turn to bring an evil to justice.

Sins can be buried, but never forgotten and Mikhail Jezek is one badass of a villain, who pays for his sins and it was poetic justice! Loved the details that Jaycee Clark gave this character and reading about him gave me the jitters and I was literally consumed with so much hatred for him.

If the story is about Morgan moving on with her life, I loved Jaycee for bringing into focus Morgan’s family and their feelings. It is not easy dealing with the aftermath of terror and lots of times we forget how much the family suffers along with the victim. It was painful and yet very proud to see the whole Gaelord family handle the sensitive situation with courage.

“Hunted” by Jaycee Clark leaves an indelible footprint. With layers of emotion and pain coating her words, Jaycee gives us an amazing story that leaves us haunted with a taste for an evil that can go beyond boundaries and a battle that two brave souls confront for a future filled with faith and love.

Romance is a drug. We want it, crave it and live for it. We love the whole endearing journey of the chase and the wooing. As much as I have romance in my daily life, Bella Andre’s love stories are beyond addictive. I’m sure her Sullivan Series is no stranger to a lot of her readers out there and it would remain as on of  my top favorites forever.

As if the Sullivans were not enough to give us sleepless nights, Bella goes under the cloak of Lucy Kevin to give us more endearing romances. Romancing her books has become one of my favorite addictions, and I’m beyond any rehabilitation!

Come on to Walker Island and get introduced to the Walker family of five sisters, close-knit and about to find the love of a lifetime. The first book in the Walker series, “Be My Love”, gets us up close and personal with Hanna Walker and Joel Peterson, along with a history of the infamous feud between the Walkers and the Petersons. Joel and Hanna come together to find the mystery behind the feud and put a closer to it, as the chemistry between them sizzles to culminate into love. Sometimes, things are just meant to be, and Hanna and Joel are meant to be for each other.

I totally fell in love with the second book in the series, “No Other Love”. This is one of the best romantic stories I’ve read and would be with me forever. Morgan Walker comes to Walker Island to develop her own line of organic makeup and cultivate on the Walker plot. Inevitably she meets her one and only love, Brian Russell, football coach and science teacher, and the one that she could never forget.

A simple love story, but not short on intense chemistry and emotions, Brian and Morgan were just amazing characters. Utterly sweet, patient and just pure good human beings, these two give us a lesson in sublime romance and love as they continue to work together. Lucy’s done a brilliant job of etching Brian and Morgan, and reading them was a pure delight. I think Brian was just one delectable alpha male with his quite strength and immense faith in the power of love.

NoOtherLove-LucyKevin2

A mesmerizing read indeed and Lucy is one fine writer par excellence! The third book in the series, “When It’s Love”, gives Rachel Walker her happily ever after. I for one can’t wait for Michael to make an honest woman out of Emily. I can see fireworks all the way.
