“Over The Line”, second in the Alpha Ops series by Emmy Curtis is intelligent, witty, exciting and definitely holds the interest of the readers. My first of reading Emmy Curtis and I will definitely go for round two.
Beth Garcia is an Army Special Forces Sergeant and one kick ass Sergeant respected by everyone. She owes her life to Jack Walker, in Afghanistan, big time when she is hit. Now back on the job after intense physical therapy, she ends up meeting Jack Walker accidentally.
Chance meeting and former attraction leads to friendship and getting to know each other. So when Jack Walker needs a favor from her to pose as his fiancé, she is all game to have some fun and pay back the debt. Jack Walker’s family is big in society and they have no clue what Jack does for a living. And this may be the wedge between them as they realize their feelings going beyond friendship and can Jack go after Beth once the charade is over, to claim her is the million dollar question.
Playing being engaged, wedding preparations in the air, and with a killer on the loose, Jack and Beth find themselves more than just being friends. Emmy Curtis’s narration holds wit and suspense. Beth and Jack are two lovable characters and she does a very good job of keeping that chemistry going and holding the suspense until it is revealed.
Received an ARC from Netgalley for an honest review.
