Mother – A Woman Reborn

A child born, a Mother reborn

To nurture and to care,

Scrapes and pain kissed away,

Hugs chase away shadows and ghosts,

Cuddles ‘n coddles plentiful,

Inspiration, motivation, aspiration,

Spine of steel, strong and brave,

Blood runs rich, values and morals,

Relationship lavished in love.

Some ties bloom in heart

Sans kindred or blood

Orphaned to roots and origins

Yet foster stability and strength

Resilience, courage, dedication

Warmth unconditional, a pillar of love

Triumph may touch a few

Others may face a defeat

It’s a guardian’s kingdom come.

To all the wonderful ladies who have made a difference in a child’s life, to care and protect, to love and cherish and to support and guide, Happy Mother’s Day!!!!

I devour books and make that a romantic thriller and I’m a goner! Anyone who grew up on Nancy Drew and Hardy Boys, love Nora Roberts, Karen Rose and Stephen King just to name a few, you will fall in love with Kendra Elliot’s books.

When an eleven year old is abducted on her way to school, the FBI doesn’t waste a moment, sending agents to scour the area and embedding Special Agent Eva McLane with the distraught family. In the eye of the storm is local detective Mason Callahan, whose life is crumbling to pieces – he’s related to the victim and his lifelong confidential informant has been murdered.

Both he and Agent McLane hole up in the victim’s family home. Every second counts in a kidnapping case, and the stakes keep rising the longer the girl is missing. As Ava and Mason struggle to hold the family in their darkest hour, the two investigators find themselves drawn to each other.

Her new book “Vanished” is going to hit the stands on June 17, 2014. Sink your teeth into a sneak peak of the first chapter of her forthcoming book – VANISHED

Mason Callahan hadn’t seen Josie in three months. The leanness of her face and the indentations above her collarbones told him she’d lost weight. In a bad way. Time hadn’t been kind to her, and the scabbed sores on her cheeks hinted that meth was probably the new love of her life. There’d been a time when he’d fought a bit of an attraction to the woman. She’d been sweet and eager to please, a pretty woman in a wholesome-country-song sort of way. She and Mason shared a rural background and a similar taste in music that’d made her more enjoyable than his other confidential informants.

But now she’d never work with him again. His fingers tightened on the brim of the cowboy hat in his hand, and he swallowed hard at the sight of her contorted body on the floor of the bathroom in her cramped apartment. Anger abruptly blurred his vision. Someone had taken a baseball bat to her skull. The murder weapon was dumped in the shower, blood and hair sticking to the bat.

“Holy mother of God,” muttered his partner, Ray Lusco……

Serena was tall enough that his mouth was right in front of hers when she tilted her face up to look at him. She could feel her breath coming faster, and his heartbeat picking up against her hand.

“Maybe,” Sean’s gaze dropped from her eyes to her mouth, “you should kiss me.”

Serena surprised them both by not hesitating at all before softly pressing her lips against his. Heat instantly enveloped her, both from his hands tightening on her waist and the sparks that shot from just one sweet kiss.

“Again.”

His request was deep and hungry. And it was her own hunger for him―and pure feminine instinct―that sent her hands up from his chest to twine around his neck. Her mouth had barely touched his again when his lips came crashing down onto hers.

His groan, her gasp, they were both one hundred percent pleasure at a kiss that was at once rough yet sweet, possessive yet gentle. And when he moved one hand from her waist up to cradle her cheek, she felt warm and cherished as he slowly angled her jaw so that he could take the kiss deeper. His tongue slicked out across her lower lip, leaving a sensual path of fire in its wake. One that could only be quenched by another taste, and then when that wasn’t enough, the slow slide of his tongue against hers.

She felt hot, desperate, achy. Wanted.

But, overwhelmed by it all―the heat and desire and confusion―she abruptly pulled away.

“Serena?” She was surprised to see that he looked as overwhelmed as she did. “Are you okay?”

She put her hand over her racing heart as if to try to slow it, and to keep from reaching for him again. “Every time you kiss me, I…”

She loved words, and hoped to make a career out of them, but right then she couldn’t find any of the right ones to explain what his kisses did to her. Not when she was only just beginning to understand just what a truly powerful force desire could be.

But he didn’t seem to need her to finish her sentence as he said, “I know. When you kiss me, it’s like that for me, too.”

Naughty has finally arrived and boy does she give Grayson more than a few ‘gray’ hairs!!!

Bella Andre’s eight book in her Sullivan Series, “Always On My Mind”, is by far my favorite right next to Smith’s and Valentina’s love story……and will always be on my mind.

For me reading a book is more than just enjoying the story or romance. For me reading a book is getting under the skin of the characters to feel them in my heart. To me, satisfaction is reading between the lines of their emotions and have every gesture and action play in my mind. And pleasure to me, is to relate to those characters at a very down-to-earth level, as practical as possible.

Personally I feel that Lori is Bella’s crowning glory. To be able to etch a character of spunk and vulnerability, hope and pain, faith and loss, yet be as normal as can be, always thinking of others, and  able to pen those feelings in words for us to relate, is absolutely no small task. Simple things in life, enjoying the beauty and sunshine of a day, getting down and dirty with a pen of pigs, be able to put aside personal issues, just to take care of a dying animal, all even as you are going through pain, betrayal and hurt is what Naughty is all about. I don’t think Bella could have done any more justice to her Lori, than she already did. The perfect Lori!!!

AlwaysOnMyMind-Review-May2014What can I say about Grayson? Another normal human being, going through guilt and pain of losing a loved one, of regrets and isolating himself as punishment for what he feels he had done wrong, Grayson was what every decent guy would relate to. He really does have a heart of gold and not so much of an ego. It’s as simple as that. No matter how much he tries to get away from Lori, he’s been playing a losing game from the minute he sees her. As much as he lashes out at her, he is quick to apologize. Makes you wonder do men like Grayson exit and sure they do.

Through all the witty conversations, tending to the horse and the pigs named after her brothers, chickens and a cat, both Lori and Grayson get to know each other, give each other a chance to grow, explore the possibilities of belonging with each other to finally fall in love and their union is one of the sweetest I’ve read.

It’s a fast paced, on-your-toes read, as you try to catch your breath and the undertones of a calm and unconditional love, family and support has your breath whooshing out, at a family reunion. Lori and Grayson leave you with a warm fuzzy feeling, deliriously happy and a craving to hug someone!

Unforgiven

Land of far went I to see

Over mountains ‘n a rocky sea

Faces familiar cloaked in unknown

Tied in blood yet distance in bond

Years fly as age bites the dust

Memories fade but grudges hold just

Forgiveness a stranger in mind

Stubbornness nests in the heart.
