Imagine this – waking up in your car, feeling icy water under your feet, sight foggy through your windshield, brain hazy with thoughts and a big black hole for your memory.

This is the opening scene in Melinda Leigh’s latest novel, “She Can Hide”. Now how can I put this book down with such a resounding opening, as I was imagining myself in that drowning car!

Abby Foster finds herself fighting for her life in the chilling waters of a Pennsylvania winter. Everyone has a past. But some have a past that chases them to a far off land to start fresh and make a semblance of a decent life. Working as a high school teacher, Abby just wants to live a quite life and forget her traumatic past – a past that had her locked down in a dry well for days before she was rescued.

ImageA past that she is not willing to share even with Officer Ethan Hale. As Ethan struggles to put together Abby’s past amidst their rising passion and love, the killer is very busy assimilating dead bodies. With trust on precarious grounds, Ethan and Abby support each other to piece the mystery behind Abby’s attempt on life.

The connecting story between Abby’s past and her present, a background of betrayals and secrets, shady and dark dealings trying to get on legitimate grounds, jealousy and rage riding the subplot, “She Can Hide” is a roller-coaster of thrills and surprises.

Melinda Leigh has a knack for writing racy thrillers and chilling suspense, and I love the way she works subplots, and the connection to the main story is never dull, keeping the element of surprise. From her first book, “She Can Run”, every story was as different as chalk and cheese, with equal elements of excitement, shivers, obsession, lust and an adrenaline rush to the finish line.

Never a dull moment!

“I Wanna Shelter You…But With The Beast Inside, There’s Nowhere To Hide, When You Feel My Heat, Look Into My Eyes…It’s Where My Demons Hide…..”

“Don’t Get Too Close…..It’s Where My Demons Hide…”Imagine Dragons”

That is what Drake represents! And the cover of Cynthia’s fourth book in the “Mine Series”, is an amazing blend of passion, despair and possessiveness. I‘ve always had a soft spot for Drake…the quite and the mysterious one, but with deadly execution…whether he was protecting Skye or thinking that Noah has gone bonkers falling in love with Claire.

Despite Noah, Logan and Drake being friends in mercenary, Drake had a history more deep than the other two. He was the one too close to his nightmare aka Anna Jean. He was more emotionally connected to Anna Jean and the betrayal is more vested and painful. His possessiveness, total disregard for his life over Jasmine’s breath, and his sacrifice – loved Drake to the soul. The bad with the good, the demon with a heart to do the right thing and stand by unconditionally, one of the best characters I had the pleasure of reading.Image

Jasmine was a total surprise package of vulnerability and courage. Her background and what she had become was totally kick-ass and I was so charmed by her – thanks Cynthia for etching Jasmine’s character so well. I’ve always being a sucker for any woman who rises beyond trauma, with sheer determination and positivity to create a niche in this world.  Overcoming her traumatic childhood, with a hope of finding the missing pieces of her family, Jasmine was just perfect.

“Your Eyes Shine So Bright, I Wanna Save That Light, I Can’t Escape This Now, Unless You Show Me How….” Imagine Dragons

The common background that connected Jasmine and Noah was an emotional read. The history between Jasmine, Victor and Saxon pulls at your heartstrings as much as Victor’s despair that Jasmine loves the dangerous Drake than a plain safe accountant or a doctor tickles your funny bone. The bond between them is something that you’d wish you had it too.

My recommendation is to read the first three – ‘Mine To Take’, ‘Mine To Keep’, ‘Mine To Hold’, and before long you would ‘CRAVE’ for Drake and the flow of the stories would be easy to love and enjoy. I hope Cynthia Eden gives Victor some much needed sleepless nights and company to chase those nightmares away 😉Image

♫♫ It’s raining men ♫♫ oops meant ♫♫ It’s raining Sullivans  ♫♫

This past week, I was on a marathon run meeting the California and Seattle Sullivans. They are quite a brood keeping me on my toes, with a flurry of emotions, pain and love leaving me greedy for more!!!!

Thank god!!! Looks like Bella gave me a short reprieve ( a few weeks) before I have Lori waltzing in with her moves!!!Image

By far I hold “Just To Be With You” and “Come A Little Closer”, very close to my heart. I was closely associated with entertainment, in front as well as behind the camera, I have friends who are still in the entertainment industry and have seen up close and personal, the fanatics, the paparazzi and the whole nine yards of the crazies in that field.

Both the stories may be of movie artists, yet they are so different – one on the sets of Hollywood and the other in the boardroom of Seattle. What really had me so attached is the simple storyline of larger than life people, yet so very down to earth and just simple good people.

ImageMovie stars are just as normal people and so are billionaires. Smith and Valentina, Ian and Tatiana – you just cannot not love them as they battle insecurities and pain, uncertainties and paparazzi, jealousy and hurt for loved ones, with tenacity to get their balance of normalcy in their lives. Smith and Ian will remain as my super favorite brothers, sons and lovers of all times.

“The Way You Look Tonight” (Rafe/Brooke) and “Let Me Be The One” (Ryan/Vicki) – ultra sweet stories of reacquainting with childhood friends, finding that spark of love still existing and stoking that tiny spark to a fire of unconditional love and support, these two were such great reads, deliciously so. As much as they are fictional characters, I am very happy to say such people do exist. Image

What can I say about “It Must Be Your Love”? This story had happiness written all over it. As much Ford and Mia had trouble getting together, I felt it was the easiest hurdle they had 😉 Ford was the ‘THE ROCKSTAR’ all way round and loved the vivacious and witty Mia. I loved the coming together of the whole family especially Mary Sullivan being at the helm of the wedding ceremony – so sweet, so unconventional, so precious. Adam and Dylan were adorable and can’t wait to read their HEAs. Ian was a big-brother-force to reckon with and the sparks between him and Tatiana was yummylicious!!!!

ImageBElI love large families. I come from a large family. But sometimes life happens, and we go in so many different paths, different continents and I miss what we used to have before. One of the reasons why I hold the Sullivans so close to me is their large family of brothers, sisters, cousins, uncles and aunts – always there to support and lend a voice and a shoulder when needed, no questions asked!

For readers who have not being introduced to this series…go on….grab ’em real fast…..u’ll not be disappointed at all 🙂
