I love Elisabeth Barrett! I’ve read her Star Harbor series innumerable times and have enjoyed that many times. Yet “The Best Of Me” fell short of my best expectations. But it can definitely be read once. I just can’t re-visit like I do with the Star Harbor Series.

Jane Pringle is trying to make a life for herself and her young son, far away from a past that threatens to impact her future. Working as a pastry chef fulfills her professional passion, and her boss seems to fill her heart. Hardworking and independent, she’s learned not to rely on others except herself.

TheBestOfMe-ElisabethBarrett-Dec2015

Preston North comes from a lineage of powerful business family in New York, yet he could not escape the insecurities and betrayal of his family, and almost gives into alcohol. But sheer determination brings him from the gallows of despair to making a name for himself as a reputable and powerful businessman

Falling in love was never a part of a plan for Jane and Press, yet fate throws them together. But with so many uncertainties and insecurities riding high, they have an uphill battle to reach their happy ending.

As much as the story is captivating, I missed the chemistry between Jane and Press. Somehow they didn’t make a place in my heart, and I couldn’t relate to them as I did with Elisabeth’s other characters.

All in all, I wouldn’t miss reading Elisabeth Barrett. She is a great writer and I can’t wait to read her more

The Dark Kings of the Realm are going through a major upheaval as their secrets have being aired to the mortals and the impending war just seems to bubble slowly to a boiling point.

Amidst the war, the Dragon Kings seem to find love and passion. As each Dragon King finds his mate, the forces of evil refuse to stay in the shadows even as the powerful forces of the realm seem to take sides.

SmolderingHunger-DarkKingsDarius-Jan2016

Darius has come from his mountain to fight the evil and not fall in love. Yet the sensual Dr. Sophie Martin leaves him no choice as he falls head over heels for her. As the passion between them smolder the sheets catching their hearts on fire, shadows of evil seem to edge closer to the Dark Kings, with some of their very own playing a game of chess.

“Smoldering Hunger” gives Darius his mate, but it also puts Sophie directly into the path of Ulrick and his games. As each book gives a Dragon King his love, it also takes us one step closer to the war that seems to be inevitable. As Ulrick seems to be pulling the strings, it is yet to be seen who really will emerge as the King Of Kings, Constantine or Ulrick.

I love the way Donna Grant makes sure that each book has a brief history of the past and connecting to the present for new readers. The books don’t have to be read in sequence, or read at all to follow their journey. But then who can resist these powerful Dragon Kings as they vow to keep their love safe and protect the innocent.

I don’t remember the last time I read a romantic historical and I forget how fun and entertaining they can be, although I lean more towards contemporary. Don’t recall if I’ve read Patricia Bray, but she definitely had an impact on me with her “An Unlikely Alliance”.

AnUnlikelyalliance-PatriciaBray-Sept2015

A gypsy fortune-teller, Mademoiselle Magda has created quiet a stir with her predictions. Lot of her patrons may be charmed with her, but Lord Kerrigan has his doubts, yet one of her predictions actually has him question her skill and integrity. As he starts spending more time with her and makes himself invade her personal space, danger seems to creep between Lord Kerrigan and Magda. Trying to get to the bottom of a villainous plan puts Magda in danger and brings into the protective folds of Lord Kerrigan.

A charming and entertaining story, Magda and Kerrigan keep us captivated with their witty banter, sassy behavior and sublime passion. A definite read and adding one more author to my list.

Kendra Elliot’s “Bone Secrets Series” is a “Chilling” ride of “Buried” secrets, “Hidden” twists and finding yourself “Alone” with cold blooded murderers. With twisted minds they stay “Veiled” among the “Known”. If her villains make you wonder in sheer amazement of how perverted, warped, and disturbed they can be, her heroes and heroines make us believe in the good that exists and the courage and bravery that her protagonists show to protect their loved ones.

Known-BoneSecrets6-KendraElliot-Jan2016

Her latest release, “Known” coming out on January 19, 2016 takes us on the ride of the un’Known’ when Gianna Trask and her teenage daughter are saved by Chris Jacobs. Waking up in the stormy Cascade Mountains, Gianna has no recollection of her rented cabin being burned to the ground and her daughter saving her life. And when the charred remains of a body comes to light in the burnt cabin, its time call in the law and re-visit Gianna’s past.

Chris Jacobs is no stranger to evil and brutal pain. His physical scars may have faded, but his mental scars remind of the torture he had endured as a kidnapped victim in his teenage years. And when Gianna and his daughter are threatened, he goes into survival mode and would protect them until his very last breath.

The suspense and rush is just as nerve pumping as the sublime romance between Gianna and Chris. Kendra’s attention to detail is one of her very best traits as a writer, and makes the reading so much more compelling. It’s always wonderful to re-visit her previous characters and read about their lives after they have walked off into the sunset.

Kendra Elliot writes some mean thrillers and suspense and the best of all each book in the series can be read as a standalone. I’ve been following her since her very first book and there’s no doubt of her writing prowess and the fact of her amazing transformation from a novice writer to an acclaimed author is just as wonderful to see in her stories

Oh My Gosh!!!! How I missed reading Jill Shalvis and her humorous stories of love and passion, wit and humor, with alpha males and sassy heroines burning the pages of the book and wanting Cedar Ridge, the place to be in for her readers.

I love Jill Shalvis for the simple fact of narrating stories with realistic endeavor, so down to earth and her sense of wit in even in serious situations is just priceless. Hudson Kincaid and Bailey Moore are just that – kind, loving and every readers dream!

MyKindOfWonderful-CedarRidge2-JillShalvis-Dec2015

Bailey Moore has seen the world at the happiest pinnacle and experienced the pain of almost losing everything. But now she’s back on rebuilding her life one moment a time and helping create a mural for the Cedar Ridge Resort is one more step towards fulfilling her desires. Meeting Hudson and falling in love was never on her list.

Hudson Kincaid has seen his share of pain of loss, yet thrives on running the ski patrol of his family resort and rescuing people in danger. He lives on the edge yet meeting Bailey really shows him what the dangerous edge can be. He falls for Bailey and his kind of love is once in a lifetime of wonderful.

A wonderful story of courage and support, family and friends, love and romance, fear and insecurities, and emotions galore, “My Kind Of Wonderful” is a heartwarming story as Hudson and Bailey brave fears and uncertainties to be together.
