The second book in the Hot Aussies Heroes Series is co-written by Amy Andrews, and I thoroughly enjoyed this passionate ride across the hot Australian desert, as “The Hero” goes after his heroine.

Edwina Calloway and Justine Wilde were once co-stars in a popular TV show, before Justine moved to Hollywood pastures. They are now coming together after four years, to take part in celebrity car rally to raise funds for a worthy cause.

Justine had always been in love with Edwina, but kept his distance to respect her and her marriage. But now that she’s single, all bets are off and he has every intention of making his, and keeping her forever in his life. Edwina had always felt the instant pull towards Justine, and like him, had never acted on it by choice. But now that she’s got her messy marriage behind her, she is free to be with Justine.

I loved this story for the depth of its characters. Justine and Ed were so much in love with each other yet had enough respect for the circumstances around them. As short is the story, Amy Andrews sure made their feelings an open book, as they struggled to overcome roadblocks and insecurities. You can’t help but fall in love with these two precious people with hearts of gold, and put their needs on the back burner as long as they can. And I really liked how Amy brought into picture the life of artists and how much they are open to scrutiny and judgment.

This was one hot ride of love, passion and a promise of a future with happiness and laughter, and I really, really enjoyed The Hero…and his heroine!

Fashion, clothes, photo shoots and runways are Allegra Simpson’s life. As the Vice President of Simpson Fashion, she does her job with manners and a smile. As much as she is confident and poised, she’s too nice for her own good and her family always swoops in to protect her. As much as she is in the limelight for all the right reasons, she can also be a target for an obsessive stalker, hell bent on making her his wife!

FashionedForPower

But Allegra’s heart and soul belong to Finn Williams, who runs a sports agency and is affiliated with the Simpsons. Finn has always loved Allegra and even as they confess their feelings for each other, he knows that Allegra is keeping him at a distance and hiding something.

Compared to the other two couples, Allegra and Finn may seem to be immature and more emotional, hot and cold in their relationship, but I think that adds credibility to their age and the history they have. As they try to work through misunderstandings and jealousies, the obsessive stalker in the shadows is getting too close for comfort and the twist in the story sure is a surprise. It’s wonderful visiting Elle and Drake, Logan and Bree, and let’s not forget the sassy Shirley with her puns and humor.

“Fashioned For Power” is the third book in her Woman Of Power Series, and is just another fabulous love story. Allegra and Finn make you laugh, cry and pull your hair sometimes, but you just can’t help falling in love with them. And the suspense was well maintained till the end of the story.

As much as I liked Allegra and Finn, my favorites are Drake and Elle. Can’t wait for Mallory to kick some sense into Read Simpson!

“Disarming Detective” is the first in the Lawmen Series by Elizabeth Heiter and of course my first of reading her writing. Again, the first timer sure caught me by surprise.

Detective Logan Greer is in desperate need of having a profiler when a body was discovered in his small town of Oakville, FL; a desperation that brings him face to face with Isabella Cortez, a FBI profiler. Instead of heading to California on a vacation with her friends, she ends up going to Oakville, to help Logan in an unofficial capacity, just because the case comes very close to being the Fishhook Killer that she was pursuing for years.

DisarmingDetective-ElizabethHeiter-Jan2015

With Logan’s gut instinct that there is a serial killer at large, and the death hitting very close to home, he needs all of Isabella’s expertise to catch the killer. Isabella on the other hand wants to bring a closure to her own trauma of her best friend being kidnapped by the killer and wants to bring the evil to rest.

As sparks ignite between the detective and the profiler, the case takes a bizarre turn. With more questions than answers, Logan and Isabella try to keep their attraction at bay. As danger and death dog the town of Oakville, Logan and Isabella succumb to their desires. And as they get closer to the killer, their future may burn to the ground.

“Disarming Detective” is definitely an interesting read. There were a few pages in the middle of the story where I felt it was dragging a tad bit as if the writer was wondering where do I take this story, but then it picks up pace and keeps going.

Elizabeth does a fine job, disarming her readers with Logan and Isabella, and doesn’t disappoint at all.

I’ve never read Donna Hill, and this is an absolute first for me. “The Way You Love Me” is a charming and an appealing love story of Justin Lawson and Bailey Sinclair.

Bailey Sinclair drops out of law school to take care of her siblings after her mother dies, and there is no father in the picture. She works two jobs to make ends meet, take care of her wayward siblings and try to save penny by penny to go back to law school. Very hardworking and friendly, she never lets the hardships in life take her down and neither does she want to depend on a man who can control her and her goals. So the surprise encounter with a charismatic stranger in the bar she works comes as a total surprise as she is instantly attracted to him.

TheWayYouLoveMe-DonnaHill-Jan2015

Justin Lawson comes from the rich Lawson legacy and is one of the most eligible bachelors of Baton Rouge. Following his own destiny of wanting to be an attorney and help the under privileged, he refuses to follow his political legacy. He falls for Bailey instantaneously, but he sure has his job cut out for him, to bring down the walls that Bailey had built around her.

As Bailey and Justin spend time together and succumb to their passion, Bailey needs to get over her insecurities and trust Justin with her heart. And Justin, a by-product of his lovingly large rich family, has to build a convincing case that with love, support and trust, two deserving people from opposite ends of a spectrum can have future together.

Donna Hill makes us fall for the Lawson Clan with her simple, loving and no drama romance of two wonderful people who are meant to be together. “The Way You Love Me” sure makes it an enjoyable read.

The Dare World of Carly Phillips just keeps getting hotter and hotter. At the same time there is no dearth of deep emotions and human connection as Olivia Dare and Dylan Rhodes rock book#5 of the Dare Series.

My personal favorite is Ian and Riley from her first book “Dare To Love”, but Dylan Rhodes has become my new BFF. Dylan is the Travel Coordinator of the Miami Thunder Football team, and had Olivia Dare in his radar for a while now. His bold display of possessiveness and intent to get her on Olivia’s birthday party sets the tone of their love story. And of course keeping her family’s warnings in mind, and not wanting to give up Olivia a second time, Dylan dares to touch Olivia’s heart.

DareToTouch-DareSeries5-Jan2015

Olivia Dare is the Executive Director of the Miami Thunder team and working closely with Dylan has created a passion not only for football, but also for the guy himself. Their passion is intense and chemistry sizzling, yet Olivia breaks off with Dylan as her past pain and insecurities take precedence over her feelings for Dylan. But with Dylan clearly stating his intentions, Olivia does not stand a chance of backing off.

With the Pro-ball taking them to Arizona, Dylan and Olivia reconnect, but Dylan’s got a monumental job of breaking down the walls Olivia had erected. And Olivia needs to trust Dylan enough to open her heart to him, and believe in him to take her away from the past pain. Dylan is tenacious and patient and Olivia is scared of her family history becoming a roadblock on her way to the future.

“Dare To Touch” is another scintillating and intense love story of two really beautiful people, just wanting to make a life for themselves. Carly Phillips does a fabulous job of breathing life into Dylan and Olivia, you could hardly see them as fictional characters.
