Hold Me – With Trust And Love

The charming series of Fool’s Gold is still as charming, sweet and romantic as Susan Mallery gets ready to release Book 16, “Hold Me”. I don’t think I can ever get tired of reading this series, no matter how many get published. Mallery always manages to keep her readers dazzled with her romances.

Destiny Mills comes to Fool’s Gold, leaving behind a legacy of music and choosing a profession to help with streamlining search and rescue operations. Passion, love and trust sounds great only in the lyrics of a song, and she has seen it been destroyed. Although working closely with the world-class skier sure puts a dent in her heart and makes her question her feelings to love and trust.

An accident and an end to his career doesn’t deter Kipling from seeking thrills as he runs the Fool’s Gold S&R, and having Destiny on his team only wants him to take more chances and this time in the game of love. And all he wants to do is hold Destiny in his arms of love and trust, and never let her go.

Then again the path of love is never easy, and convincing Destiny to open her heart is a challenge that Kip wants to win…forever. Another nice and enticing love story weaved by Susan Mallery, in the dazzling town of Fool’s Gold.

Running Fire – Danger And Love On Fire

Lindsay McKenna is an ace writer of military love stories with romance and a favorite of mine. Her attention to detail holds your interest, the thrill of danger takes you to the edge and the romance and subtle attention she gives to the progress of a relationship wants you to read her books more and more and again and again.

“Running Fire” is book#8 of her Shadow Warriors Series is equally drenched with adrenaline and romance in equal doses as Chief Warrant Officer and pilot Leah MacKenzie and SEAL Kell Ballard try to escape the Taliban infused mountains of Afghanistan.

Badly injured when the Taliban brings down her helicopter, Leah is saved and nursed back to health by Kell. Ever the warrior and protector, close proximity with Leah opens feelings that Kell has subdued after an unsuccessful marriage. Melody Anne writes some really, really sweet romances with sassy and stubborn heroines and heroes equally stubborn, yet tenacious and protective. Being in the company of your loved one sure brings out the real you, to overcome the insecurities and give your heart the trust and love that it deserves.

Travis is manipulative and good with easing in options, never dominating or demanding yet giving space to Taylor to make her own decisions is lovable and the perfect gentleman.

“Who I Am With You” is another charming addition to Melody Anne’s legacy of romance and love stories.

Matter Of Time – Endurance Of Love

I like Alannah Lynne and so do her work and am loving her now! I’ve read one of her books in the Heat Wave Series (Saving Me) and have re-visited it a few times. She’s got good presence of writing and her narration is worth reading.

‘Matter Of Time’ (Book 5/Heat Wave Series) doesn’t disappoint at all. Lizbeth Sanders and Logan Steele had been together in college, but circumstances tear them apart and send them on a journey to opposite ends of a life.

But it’s only a “Matter Of Time” before Logan and Liz come together. Sixteen years is what it takes to bring them face-to-face. Sixteen years hasn’t even scratched the surface of the love they have for each other and sixteen years later brings them together with deeper love and intense passion for each other. A second chance at love and a second chance to make a future that was denied to them, Liz and Logan need to get to know each other all over again and make time for the lives they have created in the time apart.

‘Matter Of Time’ is an enigmatic story of reuniting with that first love and rekindling the passion and desire between two fabulous characters meant to be together. Alannah is very good with creating her characters with so much depth and individuality, and infusing emotions of pain, love and patience that tugs at our heartstrings is no simple matter. Lizbeth is just an amazingly courageous and lovable person and Logan will pull at your heartstrings as he struggles to balance a family and new life with Lixbeth.

With secondary characters making their presence felt and tempting to read their stories, Alannah keeps her readers interested and vested in Logan and Liz.

A definite winner for me and definitely in my list of repeat authors!!!

Caught Up In You – No Spark In The Heart

Not sure what it is, but somehow “Caught Up In You” was very slow to catch my interest and keep me reading. For a short novella, it took me a couple of days to finish this story.

Declan is a famous artist coming back to his hometown The Bay and wanting to set roots after years of wanderlust. Besides caring for his aging father, his main goal is to get the girl of his dreams. Having fled the altar a few times before, he has a lot of convincing to do, if he wants to gain Shelby’s trust and his plans for the future with her…. forever.

Having a crush on Declan forever, Shelby tries hard to stay away from commitment scared Declan, but then fate has other plans. First crush turns into something deeper, but Shelby has lots of insecurities to overcome before she can see how serious Declan is about loving her.

The storyline is good, but I feel that Shelby and Declan got the raw end of the deal of this novella with no development of character. I am not saying “Caught Up In You” is a bad read, it’s quite the contrary, but it definitely lacked some charm and magnetism between these two. The secondary characters were good adding a bit of charm to the story.

Kim Boykin is a first time author on my list, and despite the missing magic, I may circle back to her.
