Dang!!! I’m such a sucker for love stories and happily ever-afters, for guys who can work as nannies in all their sexy hide and independent woman who try not asking for help, yet want to be taken care of and doted.

“Just For Appearances”, John MacDonald is helping Rachel Clarke take care of her sons for the summer as she starts a new job, and in return John needs Rachel’s help promoting John’s idea of building Lake Bliss Youth Center. Just for appearances they are employer and employee.

JustForAppearances-JennaRutland-Apr2015

But they have a history between them. They have unresolved issues between them and they have unanswered questions that need closure. Yet the desire, passion and love is one thing that remained constant between them, and that is one thing now that has them in each other’s arms. Then again at the end of summer, will love be enough to hold John to Rachel and Lake Bliss, and is Rachel strong enough to nurse a broken heart the second time round….or is everything just for appearance?

This is just one of most sweetest love stories I’ve read recently. Jenna Rutland gives John and Rachel an amazing characterization of the most adorable couple. Rachel as the single mother raising three boys is just pure golden and John with his open heart, support and intuition is perfect as the nanny and a confidant to the boys and their needs.

Jenna does a super fine job with the narration and the flow of the story. It’s charming, its emotional, its witty and one heck of a romantic read for everyone!

“Just For Appearances” will be appearing on shelves on April 14, 2015.

Jesse Morales and Cameron Becker sure left me shaken with unexpected feelings of race and discrimination and of a young couple coping with so many boundaries and a judgmental society. Not that Sylvie Fox takes her readers on a detailed path on that subject, but her characters are inter-racial and she sure brings out the cultural differences that can cause two wonderful people go separate ways.

Shaken-LANightSeries3-SylvieFox-Apr2015

Having chosen her career and family over her marriage a few years ago, an earthquake in LA brings Jesse and her estranged husband together as Cam saves Jesse stuck in a broken elevator. Love and desire was never a problem between them, but the chains of cultural differences and family obligations have driven a wedge between these two.

Now that he’s come face to face with his wife, LAPD Detective Cameron has no intention of signing the divorce papers. Jesse was his once, and will always be. Once they were young, but now both have matured enough to think things through in a different light and give their marriage another shot. Yes they have a lot issues and insecurities to overcome, but if love and trust can stay strong, then it is only a matter of time to overcome problems in a relationship.

Having never read Sylvie Fox before and with no expectations for the story, “Shaken” is a pretty good read. She does a fine job of creating two diverse characters bound by their beliefs and culture. And as the years rolled by, these two characters shed layers as they develop and mature in their outlook and thoughts. I thought it started off a bit slow, but just a few pages in and it kept me pretty interested to finish reading in one setting.

“Shaken” (LA Nights Series, Book 3) is a definite good read!

Meant For You Excerpt:

She dares to dream…
Summer Montgomery wants to be taken seriously almost as much as she wants her brother’s best friend, Ethan. But with a long resume of seemingly random career choices and a protective brother on watch, those things are nothing more than pipe dreams…

Does he dare to try?

Ethan Reed would like nothing more than to live by his own rules. Not wanting to disappoint his best friend Zach, or any of the Montgomerys, Ethan’s had to push his long-denied feelings for Summer aside. But it only takes one night away from watchful eyes to make impossible dreams come true…

Excerpt

“This trail is a little bit boring, don’t you think?” Summer asked several hours later as they made their way down a marked path.

“I hadn’t really thought of it that way. There’s so much to see—different kinds of birds and plants… The weather is just fantastic—perfect for hiking.” He reached out and took one of Summer’s hands in his. “And the company is perfect.”

“Aw, aren’t you sweet,” she cooed and pulled him close for a kiss and sighed. “It is a beautiful day and everything is really pretty to look at… I was just hoping to see a little something more.”

“More? Like what?”

“Oh, I don’t know. Deer. Bears. A moose. You know, wildlife.”

Beside her, Ethan chuckled. “Summer, trust me when I say that you do not want to have an up-close encounter with any of those animals.”

“I just was expecting something a little more exciting. The only wildlife I have seen is a squirrel. And he wasn’t even doing anything entertaining.”

“What were you expecting? For it to be juggling or something?” he teased.

“No,” she said with a pout. “Maybe. I don’t know.”

Ethan pulled Summer into his embrace and took a moment to enjoy the feel of her in his arms. “What’s going on?” he asked softly.

“I don’t know… I feel like you’re always off doing these really cool, crazy things and that this seems a little tame for you.” She shrugged. “I’m not big on dangerous stuff, but I wanted us to have our own little adventure. Just the two of us.”

“Sweetheart, we’ve been having our own adventures for days,” he said and placed a kiss on the top of her head. “I don’t need an adventure. I just want to spend time with you.”

Summer looked up at him and smiled. “Really?”

He nodded. “Absolutely. I’m thankful that we have this time, without any prying eyes, just to get to know one another.”

“Ethan, we’ve known each other for years,” she said with a chuckle.

He shook his head. “No. The Summer Montgomery I knew was a girl. When you showed up at the office for the first time? I thought I was going to have a heart attack.”

“Really?” she purred and snuggled closer. “Do tell.”

“You’ve blossomed into this amazingly beautiful woman,” he said and kissed her temple. “I mean, you were always beautiful, but when you walked into my office that day, it was like you’d transformed. Gone was the young girl I always pictured when I thought of you and in her place was…” He pulled back and looked into her face. “You.” He sighed. “I look at you sometimes and it’s like I can’t breathe. And even standing here right now with you in my arms I can’t believe it’s real.”

“I feel that way, too,” she said quietly. “I’d had a crush on you for so long and you never noticed me and…”

“Wait, wait, wait… You had a crush on me?”

She rolled her eyes. “Oh come on, Ethan. You can’t tell me you didn’t know!” she said with a laugh. “Everyone knew! Hell, my brothers used to throw things at me to stop me from staring at you!”

Ethan stopped and thought about that for a moment and then started to laugh. “Seriously? That’s what that was about?

“What?”

“I remember your brothers always throwing stuff at you…popcorn, socks… I think I remember James throwing a basketball at you once and I thought it was odd.

“They told me I was being a nuisance.”

Shaking his head, Ethan continued to laugh. “Not to me, because clearly I didn’t even notice.”

“Thanks a lot!” she cried and went to pull away, but Ethan pulled her in close

“Don’t take it like that,” he said and wrapped his arms around her. “I just meant that I never knew. I always thought you were beautiful and sometimes I had to wonder if your brothers ever caught me staring at you.”

“I don’t know. Did they ever throw anything at your face for no reason?” she asked with a smirk.

“Not that I can remember. But it doesn’t matter. All I know is that you’re here now and I’m seeing you, Summer. Really seeing you.”

Her eyes went wide at his words and the sincerity behind them. “What do you see?”

“I see a woman I want to get to know better. A woman who is sexy and intelligent and just…everything.”

Synopsis: Love is a friendship that has caught fire.
Connor Taylor was having a great life till his brother’s wedding invite arrived. He knew his brother didn’t want him there and there was no way he was going. But then comes the emotional drama, and he ends up in California.
Enter Harley Evans, the bride. Harley’s life clashes with Connor’s and boom – opposites attract. They make each other laugh. They make fun of each other. Their friendship blooms and love happens.
When these two worlds collide, Harley has to choose between the two brothers. Will she choose her fiancé or the guy whom she’s in love with head over heels?

Just thinking of Erin Nicholas brings out a chuckle in me…. always. Her books are just delicious, delectable and edible (it that is possible!!!). All her stories have unbreakable friendship, unconditional support, witty banter that rolls off the dialogues and intense love and passion that literally jumps off the pages.

The final book in the series “Counting On Love” is a an absolutely perfect ending as Connor Dixon is upped by Gabrielle Evans in more ways than five. Connor the ultimate charmer and lover, protective brother and a supportive friend finally gets knocked sideways once he realizes Gabby, his teammate, his friend, his comrade is actually a woman with all the assets!!!

UpByFive-CountingOnLove5

Gabby’s been in love with Connor for a long time, but the boundaries of working together have always stopped her from acting on her desire. But now when her apartment burns down, she ends up sharing Connor’s home and the game of lust begins and ends with Connor losing his heart and soul to Gabby.

Gabby and Connor are just one of the most amazing couples of Erin’s creation. Full of warmth and care, both coming from larger families, always putting others ahead of their needs, these two are just made for each other. Independent Gabby realizes that she needs Connor dote on her to death and Connor finally lets his heart do the talking as he finally accepts that fact that he doesn’t have to fix everything.

The secondary characters are just as wonderful to re-visit, the dialogue between them is just as masterful and witty, the strength of friendship and family values can easily be felt through every relationship. All in all “Up By Five” is an enticing and magnetic story and I didn’t expect any less from Erin Nicholas.
