Year 2018 has been a tremendous year for our family! From the rock bottom of variables that life has thrown at us, we have managed to stay together, hold steadfast and the support of our extended family only cemented our determination to overcome speed bumps for a better future.

We’ve lost a father, and gained a new family member of the four legged variety, Alaska, who just happened to give my husband and me a glimpse of our future of being empty nesters! For my husband to have a dog in the house, (having had a traumatic experience with a dog when young), his daughters’ happiness was more important than his fear of dogs…kudos to the amazing DAD!!! Needless to say, Alaska’s favorite place seems to be my husband’s spot on the couch!!!! Talk about bonding and testing each other’s boundaries 😉

Children of the family had an exciting year of visits from relatives, domestic and international travel, meeting with grandparents, reconnecting with cousins, aunts and uncles not seen for a few years. A visit to “The Taj Mahal” has been voted worth the trouble of all the travel! They are growing, learning, nurturing and becoming beautiful young independent ladies and we are proud to be their parents.

Year 2018 has been a whirlwind of milestones on a personal level; twenty five years of wedded ups and downs, professional lives on the path of permanence and appreciations, reconnecting with siblings and relatives. As we grow older, lifestyles change, thoughts and opinions may differ, but the past doesn’t matter anymore as we see a brighter future with family to share the good and the bad. We are forever grateful that the Year 2018 had been kind, benevolent and fruitful personally and professionally.

As we step into 2019, there’s no point in wondering if we can go back in time to change things. Regrets should be the foundation to advocate betterment and memories, strength and courage to move forward. Living in our present, working on things in our control, communicating with our loved ones, cherishing the small moments of happiness is the stepping stone to a wonderful future.

Here’s wishing everyone a year of kindness and happiness, yearning for a year of peace and harmony, aspiring for a year of prosperity and success, and hoping Year 2019 will upstage 2018 with positivity, faith and hope.

Death is one force of nature I dare not question and time is the essence of life that I have no control….

A kind human being, a perfectly imperfect father, and a loving grandfather has received a glorious farewell on a journey to the beyond. As angry I was with him for not giving me a chance to say goodbye, (of course I was being selfish!), I believe he’s lived a fulfilling life – be it seeing his children succeed in life, taking his grandchildren on walks of endearing conversations, partnering his wife in the kitchen with his wisecracks, tending to the plants he dearly loves, or keeping his retired life busy with many of his engagements.

Always with a quick retort gracing his lips, a witty mind that draws out a chuckle, and an impeccable sense of humor, his persona was one of a kind. We watched many a show together, rooted for our favorite sports with excitement, and spent countless hours over drinks with gratifying conversations and life’s experiences. He imparted hard work and discipline as a step to success and humility and kindness as virtues. He’s always been a silent giver, unconditionally I may say, and a father, uncle and grandfather to a large brood of family and extended family.

As much as he has left a void in my life, a father more than a father-in-law, he’s given me a never ending slideshow of images – sitting in his favorite rocking chair, the impish smile when he cracks a joke, his habitual walks and chores done to the second, his teasing and eternal complaint of being surrounded by the females in the family. I wonder if he ever realized that this very fact of his life is part of the legacy his sons have been rewarded with…..guess the last laugh’s on him! 🙂

You will be missed everyday of our lives…..and I am so proud and honored to be a part of this family.

2017 Bids Adieu…..

As the clock winds down bringing another year to a close, 2017 for many has been a year of immense loss, and pain, yet in the midst of destruction and death, life seems to find a way of giving another chance and opening hearts filled with empathy and love. My heart goes out to the fallen and their families, and I sincerely hope that the new year starts with a clean slate to make new memories, create new stories, and give back a little to build love and trust.

The year has gone by in a flash but has been kind to us albeit a few hiccups, keeping us in check of what may be and what may not be. This year saw us going through the biggest change of all – our oldest daughter heading to college. With some major changes and a few minor variances, the fact remains we miss her presence in our daily life, giving us a chance to reminiscence on flashbacks. She’s thriving, she’s enjoying and she’s living the life of a freshman in college!

The youngest has matured into quite a young lady, that she surprises me to no end! Our conversations about her daily life, her friendships and gossip, the trials and tribulations of a high school teenager, are something I am so grateful for. Communication with a teenager is not something I take for granted and truly am grateful that she has made me a part of her daily dramatic teenage life.

And let’s not forget the “Man Of The House!” As always working hard, rolling with some major changes on the professional front, and transitioning into a DAD of teenagers, has not been an easy task, yet he’s done it like a champion. Patience, tenacity and perseverance have been his mantra this year along with being the wonderful husband and father he always has been and continue to be.

Yep…we had our share of disagreements and arguments like any normal couple and here we are heading into our 25th year of togetherness!

As a person who believes that things happen for a reason, I am enjoying my life with my family, being a book fanatic to the hilt and socializing with the handful of friends in my corner. Life’s been kind to me and to my family…I am forever grateful for them surrounding me with their idiosyncrasies, the unconditional love and support of my extended family in India and the UK, the benevolent and considerate wheels of my existence, and for the constant and steady professional front.

Life will always find a way to bend and mend, and life will do what it is supposed to do – throw curve balls, wreck well-made plans and create havoc in our daily life. We as players are responsible to endure and forgive these surprises with courage and confidence. As we grow and progress, be a friend to the one in need, the ears, eyes and shoulders to lend support and give actions and words more importance. No matter what travesty lines our lives, determination and resolution regenerates hope and faith.

At the threshold of a new year, I thank the year gone by for its valuable lessons, priceless memories and bountiful blessings. I am thankful for another chance at creating new stories, making new memories, fulfilling aspirations and goals with renewed energy and confidence, and to amazing relationships and breathtaking adventures.

From my family to yours, here’s wishing everyone a safe, healthy and a resounding New Year!!!

Live With Courage, Thrive With Energy and Enjoy With Abandonment!
