I’ve always loved Shiloh Walker books especially her psychic novels. In fact her FBI psychic novels were the first of the kind that I’ve read and have been hooked since then.

Her Secrets & Shadows Series is another sinfully dark and dangerous series taking you into the tiny town of Madison, cloaked in dark secrets, overflowing with abuse and torment and trusting a person very well may take you to the doors of death.

The second book in the series, “Sweeter Than Sin”, (first is Deeper Than Need – Noah/Trinity), moves the story further along to Adam and Lana. Mind you, Sweeter Than Sin can be read as a standalone, but it would be so much more meaningful if read in sequence.

SweeterThanSin-SecreteShadows-ShilohWalker

Adam runs the only bar in the town of Madison, a torture he endures as he is a recovering alcoholic and hasn’t touched booze for the past fifteen years. He is one tormented guy with a past filled with pain and lot of questions. The anger, the wait, the endurance is what makes Adam a normal human being trying to forget a past that refuses to let go. He runs a secret forum along with Noah to help teenagers with issues and a forum that brings to light some secrets that have been plaguing Madison. If booze is one end of the temptation scale, Lana has been the other end of the scale that he couldn’t ever forget twenty years and wondering if she is alive or dead!

Lana is back in her hometown after twenty years of hiding, to make things right and bring justice to the crimes that have been covered under the dark skies of Madison. As she tries to put together the pieces of her past, the relation she shares with Adam is one that cannot be ignored or denied. Lana’s always been the one to protect her family and friends and would do anything to save a life. If Noah has a special place in her heart twenty years ago, it’s Adam who makes her heart hum and lose herself mind, body and soul.

As Adam and Lana try to make sense of crimes happened twenty years ago, there is a vigilante on the streets killing the plague that has been roaming the streets of Madison. Secrets are being exposed and the masks of some powerful people in Madison are been ripped off…yet there are some left to bring to justice.

A power packed story with passion and suspense riding each page.

Lucky Harbor just keeps getting smooth as whiskey, silk over velvet and hard to walk away.

“He Is So Fine” is book #11 in Jill Shalvis’s Lucky Harbor Series and is another sizzling romance with Olivia Bentley and Cole Donovan crackling with passion and giving Lucille some fine material for her Tumbler and You Tube fixations!!! Can it be more sexy and funny for the residents of Lucky Harbor as they feed on the gossip with underlying love and concern for their own?

Olivia comes to Lucky Harbor to start fresh with a new identity leaving a devastating Hollywood life and a family that she really can’t relate to. Running a vintage store in Lucky Harbor, she’s careful to keep her distance and not make any long term relations. Living on borrowed time, she revels in running her store and creating endless fantasies and stories with the kids.

Cole runs the Lucky Harbor Charters along with his friends Sam and Tanner and is forever trying to stay clear of his coven of sisters, who have coddled him. He’s got a wonderful family and great business, but a painful past keeps him from having any long term relations, until Olivia literally jumps on his head in the seas with the intention of saving his life and knocks him flat….literally!

HeIsSoFine-LuckyHarbor10-Sept2014

Cole and Olivia can’t deny the chemistry that’s been bubbling between them, and end up together. Cole believes in total honesty to the point of being rigid and unbendable…such a sweetheart…..and Olivia’s yet to come clean with Cole about her past.

Another beautiful love story in Lucky Harbor, as Olivia and Cole try to work out their misunderstandings and insecurities, put a closure to a past that seems to put the future at risk, and the confession of Olivia and Cole was an absolute treat to read.

Can’t wait for Tanner to get his heart stolen!!!!

I seem to come across some amazing new writers courtesy Netgalley and Olivia Miles sure caught my attention. There is no doubt I can be very picky about the books I read considering I’ m a voracious reader thrice over!!!

I’ve never read Olivia Miles before “Mistletoe On Main Street”, a first in her new “Briar Creek Series”. Set in Briar Creek with its quaint stores, charming people and friendly neighbors, “Mistletoe On Main Street” kick starts the series with Grace Madison and Luke Hastings finding their way back to each other in the season of snow, sleigh bells and mistletoes.

Grace Madison is writer coming back to her hometown after her father passes away. Past pain and hurt have kept her away from her family and a love, that was never meant to be or so she thought. Finding herself at a lose end with things in the city gone awry, coming back to Briar Creek seems to be the means to an end as to what her next phase of life would be.

Luke Hastings is a teacher and he once upon a time loved Grace, before she flew away to spread her wings. Her arrival hack into their hometown, dredges up feelings that have been dormant, and her presence seems to stoke those embers into something more. A recent widower, Luke is at a crossroads between his feelings for Grace, and guilt for what has been the outcome of his only marriage.

MistletoeOnMainStreet-OliviaMiles-Sept2014

As Grace and Luke try to put a closure to the separation of the past, the guilt and anguish of the past doesn’t seem to make the future any more viable. I loved the way Olivia gave so much more importance to the feelings and torment that Grace and Luke go through. Even as they explore the attraction and come together, their future, their goals and their insecurities always seem to dog them into not to make a commitment. The questions that Luke asks himself, the self talks he gives himself, was an emotional read as a normal tries to get cross over a past that feels he’s never done justice to. And Grace with her inner strength and focus, and a vision to make a future attainable, puts in her full force of tenacity to make things work.

Under the winter skies, on the streets twinkling with starry lights and mistletoes, among the warm people humming Christmas carols and baking ginger bread cookies, Olivia Miles writes a beautiful love story for Grace and Luke. She is on my list for a definite repeat reads and I am looking forward to Anna Madison and Mark Hastings firing up the streets of Briar Creek in her next, “Match Made On Main Street”.

M Stewart is a brand new author in my list and Risking It All is my first read of hers.

Kyle Morgan and Cecilia Anton have been childhood friends and have always supported and protected each other through the years. Somewhere along their journey in their small town, Kyle realizes his feelings for Cece go beyond the brotherly genre and he’s doesn’t want to jeopardize their relationship by admitting his feelings. Cece is left stranded by her boyfriend when he comes to know she’s pregnant and ends on Kyle’s doorstep for help.

RiskingItAll-JMStewart-Sept2014

Risking It All is a sweet story of a protector and gentleman Kyle who wants to do the right thing for his friend. It is a charming story of lovable and caring Cece, as she tries to understand her mixed feelings towards her childhood friend and deal with the nightmares that seem to haunt her. Risking It All is a pleasant ride of two beautiful individuals risking their friendship to make a future, as they put a closure to a present clouded in mystery and lay the past to rest.

A definite and enjoyable read.

I like when writers test the boundaries of their creativity. Venturing into areas they may not be sure yet brave enough to test the waters. Something for readers to be receptive to their favorite authors and enjoy the shades of their writings.

Carly Phillip did warn her readers as she “Dared To Submit” her fourth book in The Dare Series, with BDSM elements and it rolled off with a flourish. It was erotic, sensual and sizzling, but in no way offensive, crude or abusive. In fact it gave the characters a depth of enrichment and an aura of completeness.

DareToSubmit4-CarlyPhillips-Sept2014

Decklan Dare is the cousin from the NY side of the Dare family and brother of Gabe Dare (Dare To Surrender). A NY cop, Decklan thrives on control of his life and emotions. He understands the loss of loved ones, and does not want to ever lose himself to emotions of pain, hurt and betrayal, ever. As much as he is a dominant, he has a heart of gold and never would hurt a single soul. Compassionate, protective and all alpha, he falls for Amanda and her vulnerability.

Amanda Collins takes one look at Decklan in a BDSM club and knew she was in serious trouble. Not into relationships, she gets off her urges under the disguise of submissive role-playing. Holding a great job as an assistant to her best friend in Washington who happens to be gay and role-playing as his girlfriend for public appearances, she takes on Decklan with no strings attached.

But love finds a way through their hearts and before long, they fall in love with each other, yet not confessing to their feelings and skirting around any commitment. Carly did a fabulous job of portraying Decklan and Amanda with their insecurities and hang-ups. With sizzling chemistry between them, Dare to Submit is a passionate ride of testing sexual boundaries, tenderness and love, support and commitment. It’s a Carly Phillips story of humor, charm and wit, with a healthy dose of carnal sensuality.
