The Brodies are heating up the cold Alaskan winters!

“Against The Sky” takes us into the beautiful locales of Alaska in all its wild winter glory, as Nick Brody and Samantha Hollis fight their growing attraction to each other.

A chance meeting between ex-homicide detective Nick Brody and business owner Samantha Hollis in the Sin City sets the stage for a romance between them. Having scorched the bed sheets with a life changing consequences, Samantha decides to accept Nick’s invitation to Alaska to give their desire for each other a chance to develop into a relationship.

AgainstTheSky-Brodys2-Jan2015

But Alaska is anything but quiet and slow, because under the big sky lurks danger that threatens the lives of loved ones. With betrayal and evil shadowing them, Nick and Samantha have to trust each other to survive kidnapping and death, if they want to want to get a chance at a future.

I love Kat Martin’s Raines Series – one of my favorites. And the Brodies Of Alaska are a close second. Kat Martin did a fabulous job of weaving romance and suspense as Nick and Samantha try to bridge the distance in their lives. I loved the way their characters did justice to their roles, as they try to understand each other, the subtleties of life that take over their existence and the doubts and insecurities that dog a relationship. Nick and Samantha are just perfect for each other in this imperfect world!

An invigorating read filled with enough romance and suspense to keep our hearts pulsing and minds racing.

New author and her new series! Stacy McKitrick and her Ghostly Encounters!!!! And what an entertaining start it is for her series with her first book “Ghostly Liaison”.

Charlie is dead and leaves her home to her brother Rob, except that Charlie suddenly realizes that she is stuck between the worlds of life and death and there’s absolutely no one to help her. Rob on the other hand is busy trying to keep his inherited construction business running and has no time to fix his sister’s house to be sold, and neither does he have time to pay attention to the weird happenings in that house, as recited by Charlie’s neighbor.

GhostlyLiaison-GhostlyEncounters1-StacyMcKitirck-Jan2015

Enters Bridget with a determination to make her life independent of her parents and a past that had left way too many scars to forget and move on. And as if the pain and trauma of her past is not enough, people, of the ghostly kind, now dog her. A chance encounter with Rob lands Bridget in Charlie’s house as the house sitter. And of course Charlie is just ecstatic that Bridget can see, talk and feel her and Bridget is her only hope to get to the bottom of her death.

As sad as it is that Charlie is dead, this is just such an entertaining story. Reminds me Casper, the warm and friendly ghost trying to do the right thing and make the best of the situation. As Bridget tries to help Charlie, Rob slowly starts falling in love with Bridget, and things sure take a deadly turn before they get better.

To be honest, I had no expectations of the book, but the story went beyond my expectations. It was one of the most engaging and delightful reads of a new author I’ve read in recent times. Charlie as the ghost was just sassy, hilarious and frustrating. Rob as the ever-protecting guy totally smitten by Bridget, and coming to terms with the death of his sister, was just a great lovable guy. And Bridget, with her dainty demeanor is one brave lady trying to help the ones only she can see, as well as tenacious to get to the bottom of the truth.

“Ghostly Liaison” is a surprise package of love and understanding, an engaging read of humor and wit, an emotional ride of pain and guilt, and an appealing journey of two people trying to find their way to each other with the blessings of the resident ghost.

I’ve read Stacy Finz before and she creates magic with her stories of hope and patience, love and support, and strong and courageous women, who have lost but learned to survive, and who have been hurt but moved forward with strength, with the love of their men who have given the women of their life, their hearts forever. The next in her Nugget Romance Series, “Finding Hope” is no exception to her talent.

Emily Mathews comes to the small town of Nugget, CA to start fresh, away from the pain of losing her daughter four years ago, and a fallen marriage. She hopes the beautiful mountains and the blue skies would help her rejuvenate and move forward even as she waits for any news about the kidnapping. She hopes that the vast lands of McCreedy Ranch and her passion for creating recipes and editing cooking books, would bring her some peace into her turmoil life that has been plaguing her. Although she never anticipated that the owner of MrCreedy Ranch, Clay McCreedy and his sons would play a pivotal part in her makeover.

FindingHope-NuggtRomance-StacyFinz-Jan2015

Clay McCreedy’s been going through his own set of problems, trying to raise his two teenage sons, after his wife’s scandalous death. The arrival of Emily sure puts an unforeseeable bump in his daily life of running the ranch and dealing with the unresolved grief of his sons. Even as he sees Emily as a friend, she wheedles into his heart and jealousy and lust make him questions his intentions towards her. As she gets closer to his sons, and he’s drawn to her quiet understanding and strength, he admits his feelings of love and wanting to keep her with him forever.

As Clay and Emily explore the passion that ignites between them, as they disclose a past that had brought them to this point in their lives, the past rears its ugly head putting a wrench in their present. Stacy Finz did a beautiful job of exploring the feelings of two people hurt; the depth of layers under the skin of Clay and Emily was a treat to unravel, as they discover themselves with each other. The passion was sublime, the narration was charismatic and Clay and Emily are two amazing people, with the support of the charming and caring residents of Nugget, find their future filled with hope and love.

And I adore Stacy Finz just for giving one of the most beautiful and poignant beginnings of a future I’ve ever read, even as it brings to rest “Finding Hope”.

The saga of the Sentinels and their eternal protection continues in Alexandra Ivy’s second in the series, “Blood Assassin”. Fane had made an impressive impact as the guardian of Callie in “Born In Blood” and after handing off her and the special bond they shared to Duncan, Fane is ready to head back to Tibet for some down time. But then fate throws a wrench in his plans, when the love of his life disappears.

BloodAssassin-Sentinals2-AlexandraIvy-Dec2014

Not just a powerful psychic, Serra is a rare telepath who can connect to minds with objects and helping to find missing children is her specialty and weakness. A weakness exploited by a high-blood and Serra ends up in St. Louis via a spell to help Bas, a powerful assassin find his kidnapped daughter.

Fane is on the prowl as Serra’s guardian, and would lay his life for Serra. And Serra is racing against time to find the little girl so her life can be safe. Amidst danger and betrayal, revenge and retribution, sizzling chemistry and passionate love, Serra and Fane finally consummate their feelings for each other, for a future with each, if they can ever survive the danger they landed in.

Alexandra Ivy does another brilliant job of etching Serra and Fane, who are fast becoming my favorites. There is so much love and tenderness between them; you just can’t help loving them. Despite the danger they are in, their relationship just oozes charm, charisma and warmth. And the hint of sparks between Wolfe and Mave is something that I am waiting for Alexandra Ivy to bring to fruition. And I hope there is a closure for Bas and his story.

I’ve always loved the way Ivy gives importance to small details, the explanations of situations, the various chapters of history of the Sentinels and Norms, the layers of foundation of Valhalla, and the dynamics of various relationships among them. It is a fascinating exploration of the paranormal, beyond the imaginations of the norm, and a fulfilling experience of reading the story of each of the Sentinels and the woman they are destined to have in life.

The reign of the Dark Protectors has come a full circle. Marked marks a fitting end to the war waged in the Realm and for peace to become the norm of life.

Janet Kayrs Paulsen has been prophesized to be the game-changing piece in the big war in the Realm, between the evil and the good. And Zane Kyllwood as the warrior soldier, strategizing to bring peace into the Realm, and destined to be mated with Janet, is a breed apart from others.

Zane and his Janie Belle have been friends in their dream world forever, and seeing each other in real world, actually rocks the very foundation of their friendship and a future that they may not be part of. Even as the Realm fights to save the innocent and bring peace, Zane and Janie have to endure love, separation and the pain of not being together as each is faced with responsibilities tied with their positions. Even as the Dark Protectors fight to save their mates from a deadly virus, and find a cure, loyalties are tested and trust becomes a premium commodity.

Marked-DragonKings-DonnaGrant-Dec2014

“Marked” is an amazing, amazing narration of the Dark Protectors and their unconditional love and support for their loved ones. It is a brilliant story of two individuals, who under dire circumstances, try to find humor as they fight to keep their love alive. And it is an impressive story of family, friends and allies finding a way to fight the deadly virus and the evil plaguing the Realm, and surviving fatalities to bring that peace.

And it is a glorious ending as Zane and Janie lay down the foundation of peace in the Realm.

As much as I ‘m sad to see the Dark Protectors passing on the reign, I am looking forward to the Realm Enforcers, who just may be the new heroes trying to protect the innocent, and keep the peace that Zane and his Janie Belle have fought so hard for.

No words can describe this story and no words or reviews would do any justice. It has to be read personally, line by line, lived through Zane and Janie’s eyes, event by event, and enjoy the sheer perfection of this story, dialogue by dialogue.
