I like Alannah Lynne and so do her work and am loving her now! I’ve read one of her books in the Heat Wave Series (Saving Me) and have re-visited it a few times. She’s got good presence of writing and her narration is worth reading.

‘Matter Of Time’ (Book 5/Heat Wave Series) doesn’t disappoint at all. Lizbeth Sanders and Logan Steele had been together in college, but circumstances tear them apart and send them on a journey to opposite ends of a life.

MatterOfTime-AlannahLynne-Apr2015

But it’s only a “Matter Of Time” before Logan and Liz come together. Sixteen years is what it takes to bring them face-to-face. Sixteen years hasn’t even scratched the surface of the love they have for each other and sixteen years later brings them together with deeper love and intense passion for each other. A second chance at love and a second chance to make a future that was denied to them, Liz and Logan need to get to know each other all over again and make time for the lives they have created in the time apart.

‘Matter Of Time’ is an enigmatic story of reuniting with that first love and rekindling the passion and desire between two fabulous characters meant to be together. Alannah is very good with creating her characters with so much depth and individuality, and infusing emotions of pain, love and patience that tugs at our heartstrings is no simple matter. Lizbeth is just an amazingly courageous and lovable person and Logan will pull at your heartstrings as he struggles to balance a family and new life with Lixbeth.

With secondary characters making their presence felt and tempting to read their stories, Alannah keeps her readers interested and vested in Logan and Liz.

A definite winner for me and definitely in my list of repeat authors!!!

Not sure what it is, but somehow “Caught Up In You” was very slow to catch my interest and keep me reading. For a short novella, it took me a couple of days to finish this story.

Declan is a famous artist coming back to his hometown The Bay and wanting to set roots after years of wanderlust. Besides caring for his aging father, his main goal is to get the girl of his dreams. Having fled the altar a few times before, he has a lot of convincing to do, if he wants to gain Shelby’s trust and his plans for the future with her…. forever.

CaughtUpInYou-Kimboykin-Apr2015

Having a crush on Declan forever, Shelby tries hard to stay away from commitment scared Declan, but then fate has other plans. First crush turns into something deeper, but Shelby has lots of insecurities to overcome before she can see how serious Declan is about loving her.

The storyline is good, but I feel that Shelby and Declan got the raw end of the deal of this novella with no development of character. I am not saying “Caught Up In You” is a bad read, it’s quite the contrary, but it definitely lacked some charm and magnetism between these two. The secondary characters were good adding a bit of charm to the story.

Kim Boykin is a first time author on my list, and despite the missing magic, I may circle back to her.

The closer I got to the crux of the story, the more it kindled my interest. Ann Jacobs writes some really nice stories and her Oil Barons Series is pretty charming.

Second in the series, “The Closer We Get” brings single mom Erin Winters up, close and personal with Blake Tanner. Losing her husband in a car accident and trying to get the necessary treatment for her wheel-chaired toddles, leaves Erin with becoming a surrogate mother to pay for the impending surgery. But circumstances throw things into a roller coaster ride of uncertainties and fears as she ends up in a marriage to the sperm donor.

Rich and affluent attorney Blake Tanner loses his wife to a stray bullet bringing him face to face with Erin Winters carrying his child. Despite his initial resistance and reservations, Blake ends up with Erin under his roof and in the safety of his arms. As he gets closer to mother and son, sparks ignite to lust. As he gets to know Erin on a daily basis, lust turns into desire and love.

Ann Jacobs weaves a pretty interesting story around Blake and Erin. As much as I liked Blake and Erin and their chemistry, I did feel that the process of forgiveness, guilt and feelings needed a more intense delivery. Weaving in Erin’s sister’s and Blake’s friend’s story into the main storyline was pretty good as a supporting cast.

“The Closer We Get” is set at a little bit of a slow pace, but definitely charming enough to finish in one sitting.

I enjoy reading romances and happily ever afters right along suspense, thrillers and bloodshed. Some love stories are nice, but there are some that become close to your heart, stirs some personal memories and leaves us with a smile and a feeling of happiness.

“Rescued By The Rancher” is another charming story as Meredith Anderson re-unites with her sister Melanie and is all ready to start over. Tall Pines Ranch has been her salvation as Meredith leaves a past of control, power and money that had threatened her sanity and life. As she rebuilds her relationship with her sister, she also rebuilds her strength and confidence, helping Melanie runs her business. And as her confidence grows, so does her love for the handsome cowboy Gage McAllister grows by leaps and bounds.

As the foreman and best friend, Tall Pines has given Gage a new lease of life. A past filled with neglect and abandonment and estranged from his rich father, Gage had a build a life for himself at Tall Pines, and now is smitten with Meredith. Loyal, hardworking and with a heart of gold, Gage is utterly delicious and has no qualms owning to the fact that he Downtown Abbey is his favorite show!

Two people hurting from painful pasts and with a sleuth of insecurities in their lives, the only thing that makes them happy is the desire and love that seems to grow between them. One night stand becomes all nights and with a promise of a future on the horizon.

As a first time reader of Victoria James, I loved her writing, loved her narration and loved her story line too. “Rescued By The Rancher” is charming, it tugs at your heart and you will admire Meredith for her courage and strength and leaves you with a satisfaction of reading a wonderful love story. Victoria definitely spent time creating Gage and Meredith with all their faults, insecurities and sacrifices to make them as relatable as possible to an everyday couple.

I definitely will be circling back to Victoria James in the future.

Jesse Morales and Cameron Becker sure left me shaken with unexpected feelings of race and discrimination and of a young couple coping with so many boundaries and a judgmental society. Not that Sylvie Fox takes her readers on a detailed path on that subject, but her characters are inter-racial and she sure brings out the cultural differences that can cause two wonderful people go separate ways.

Shaken-LANightSeries3-SylvieFox-Apr2015

Having chosen her career and family over her marriage a few years ago, an earthquake in LA brings Jesse and her estranged husband together as Cam saves Jesse stuck in a broken elevator. Love and desire was never a problem between them, but the chains of cultural differences and family obligations have driven a wedge between these two.

Now that he’s come face to face with his wife, LAPD Detective Cameron has no intention of signing the divorce papers. Jesse was his once, and will always be. Once they were young, but now both have matured enough to think things through in a different light and give their marriage another shot. Yes they have a lot issues and insecurities to overcome, but if love and trust can stay strong, then it is only a matter of time to overcome problems in a relationship.

Having never read Sylvie Fox before and with no expectations for the story, “Shaken” is a pretty good read. She does a fine job of creating two diverse characters bound by their beliefs and culture. And as the years rolled by, these two characters shed layers as they develop and mature in their outlook and thoughts. I thought it started off a bit slow, but just a few pages in and it kept me pretty interested to finish reading in one setting.

“Shaken” (LA Nights Series, Book 3) is a definite good read!
