Rachel Lacey’s second book, “For Keeps” in her Love To Rescue Series keeps you captivated, charmed and amused.

Merry Joy Atwater is one firecracker of a woman who would do anything for the love of animals. Working as a full time nurse, and trying to keep her Triangular Boxer Rescue afloat is no easy task, especially when that bank balance is nada. But Merry is tenacious and is ready to take on the job of a dog trainer at Camp Blue Sky, for the summer, even though the sexy cowboy vet T.J. Jameson is running it.

ForKeeps-RachelLacey-Jan2015

All T.J Jameson wants is for his autistic nephew and other kids with special needs to get some animal therapy. What he doesn’t anticipate is a spitfire of a woman named Merry to come bouncing into his life with her dogs and making an impact on his life. All he wanted was his nephew to be happy and he ends with fostering a dog that he never even wanted in the first place, considering his frightening experience with dogs

Merry is not into long-term relationships, and T.J is looking for a nice and quiet woman to be his wife. T.J wants an organized life and Merry is just merry and rambunctious. Working on the camp, T.J realizes that Merry is more than what she seems to be. Behind all her hard work and love for children and animals is a lifelong of pain and loss that she burdens her heart. And Merry falls in love with the gentle and loving TJ, as she works with him everyday.

“For Keeps” doesn’t disappoint at all, as it takes Merry and T.J on a roller coaster ride of unpredictable love and pain. Rachel Lacey does another fine job of characterizing Merry and TJ, with layers to their relationship. A simple love story with enough love, laughter, tears and happiness to make it an enchanting read. And it’s wonderful to visit with Cara, and Olivia sure made her mark.

“For Keeps” is definitely for keeps!!!!

For the very longest time, I’ve wanted to read Carla Neggers and finally, finally was able to do so, with “Echo Lake”, the fourth in the Swift River Valley Series. The waiting was worth it, the first read was pure delight and Agent Hancock and the resident builder Heather Sloan are just perfect for each other, with a life with each other.

EchoLake-SwiftRiverValley4-CarlaNeggers-Jan2015

DSS Agent Brody Hancock returns to Knights Ridge at the behest of his diplomat friend Vic Scarletti. Eighteen long years has changed a lot in Knights Bridge, yet nothing has changed. The essence of a small town has not changed, but Heather Loan sure had grown up into a lady giving him sleepless nights. There are a few things in his life at Knights Bridge that need to be put to rest, before he can succumb to his love for Heather.

Heather Sloan is the only girl and youngest of the Sloan clan, and helps with their construction business. So renovating the stately 1912 country home of Vic Scarletti is a great opportunity for her family business, and for her as she heads the project. But she did not budget in the fact that Brody Hancock could skyrocket her heart to a different proposal.

Set against the New England winter, Echo Lake is a charming story of love, patience and family. It is a beautiful story of two wonderful people meant to be together. And it is a captivating story steeped in emotions, love, subtle humor and unconditional support of family and friends.

Another first of reading a new Australian writer/author, Victoria Purman, and book four of the series Hot Aussie Heroes, “The Millionaire” is a short and a good one time read.

TheMillionaire-HotAussieHero4-VictoriaPurman-Jan2015

Chris Malone is a world famous photographer and is on vacation incognito or so he thinks. Tired of the travelling all over the planet, photographing the horrors of the world and living out of suitcases, hotels and camps has taken a toll on Chris and all he wants to do recuperate and stay away from the eyes of the public, even if it means to be a total ass about it.

Journalist Ellie Flannery sees Chris Malone her idol on a lonely beach and takes the chance to request his help for her fundraiser. Unfortunately idols can be idiots in real life! Chris refuses and the incident goes viral. What starts of as damage control, leads to Chris enjoying Ellie and her joy for life. And Ellie soon sees the generous and broken man underneath his touch exterior, and she wants to spend her life with him.

Short and nice, “The Millionaire” is an appealing read as it takes you on the ride along with Ellie and Chris, as they try to get past insecurities and make a future with each other. Ellie with some past inflicted pain is a bounty of positivity and a heart of gold, always wanting to help someone. Chris as the millionaire and wanting put roots with Ellie, and have the whole family deal is endearing.

Victoria Purman did a fine job with Ellie and Chris and the story had enough love, emotions and good narration to keep you reading her works.

The second book in the Hot Aussies Heroes Series is co-written by Amy Andrews, and I thoroughly enjoyed this passionate ride across the hot Australian desert, as “The Hero” goes after his heroine.

TheHero-HotAussieHero2-AmyAndrews-Jan2015

Edwina Calloway and Justine Wilde were once co-stars in a popular TV show, before Justine moved to Hollywood pastures. They are now coming together after four years, to take part in celebrity car rally to raise funds for a worthy cause.

Justine had always been in love with Edwina, but kept his distance to respect her and her marriage. But now that she’s single, all bets are off and he has every intention of making his, and keeping her forever in his life. Edwina had always felt the instant pull towards Justine, and like him, had never acted on it by choice. But now that she’s got her messy marriage behind her, she is free to be with Justine.

I loved this story for the depth of its characters. Justine and Ed were so much in love with each other yet had enough respect for the circumstances around them. As short is the story, Amy Andrews sure made their feelings an open book, as they struggled to overcome roadblocks and insecurities. You can’t help but fall in love with these two precious people with hearts of gold, and put their needs on the back burner as long as they can. And I really liked how Amy brought into picture the life of artists and how much they are open to scrutiny and judgment.

This was one hot ride of love, passion and a promise of a future with happiness and laughter, and I really, really enjoyed The Hero…and his heroine!

Fashion, clothes, photo shoots and runways are Allegra Simpson’s life. As the Vice President of Simpson Fashion, she does her job with manners and a smile. As much as she is confident and poised, she’s too nice for her own good and her family always swoops in to protect her. As much as she is in the limelight for all the right reasons, she can also be a target for an obsessive stalker, hell bent on making her his wife!

FashionedForPower

But Allegra’s heart and soul belong to Finn Williams, who runs a sports agency and is affiliated with the Simpsons. Finn has always loved Allegra and even as they confess their feelings for each other, he knows that Allegra is keeping him at a distance and hiding something.

Compared to the other two couples, Allegra and Finn may seem to be immature and more emotional, hot and cold in their relationship, but I think that adds credibility to their age and the history they have. As they try to work through misunderstandings and jealousies, the obsessive stalker in the shadows is getting too close for comfort and the twist in the story sure is a surprise. It’s wonderful visiting Elle and Drake, Logan and Bree, and let’s not forget the sassy Shirley with her puns and humor.

“Fashioned For Power” is the third book in her Woman Of Power Series, and is just another fabulous love story. Allegra and Finn make you laugh, cry and pull your hair sometimes, but you just can’t help falling in love with them. And the suspense was well maintained till the end of the story.

As much as I liked Allegra and Finn, my favorites are Drake and Elle. Can’t wait for Mallory to kick some sense into Read Simpson!
