A first time read of a new author, Nalini Titcomb, “Secretary Of My Heart” is surprisingly a very good read. I certainly had no expectations, except that the blurb sounded interesting. It was beyond my expectations actually, great characters, a good plot, and an interesting narration kept me glued to the book.

I liked the fact that the groundwork was already in place outlining the working relationship between Mike Montgomery, the US Marshal protecting the US Secretary Of Interiors, Cara Hastings. So when unknown threats shadow Cara, it is a perfect opportunity to develop their personal relationship, and Nalini Titcomb does a very good job of it.

I would definitely will revisit this author to follow this series if she offers more, as well as check out her other works.

Any book by Lisa Marie Rice is a reading pleasure and it’s been a long while since I get to read her again. Although I keep visiting her Midnight series multiple times – chicken soup for the soul!

Eve Banner just doesn’t know it,  but she is definitely “Taken” by Marcus Rey. It’s just a small matter of Marcus letting Eve become aware of this fact, who happens to own his heart and soul. And of course considering that Marcus came from nothing and now is a billionaire running all things legitimate, he’s sure to have made some enemies and Eve gets into the crosshairs of this very evil instigated by her father.

I really liked the characters Eve and Marcus, but what I missed was the development of their relationship. There is  charisma, but lacked the fire that I always find between the pages of Lisa Marie’s books. I missed the chemistry of building a relationship between Eve and Marcus. The ending was a welcome twist, but that begged the question as to why the story not happen in the shadows incognito. I would have loved to see their relationship growing, getting to know each other, fall in love, get in each other’s lives, and the whole nine yards.

It’s worth a read, but I’m not “Taken” as I am with the Midnight series.

Don’t recall reading Caitlin Crews before, and seems that I am late to reading her Kittredge series, and ended up reading the last in this series, and I have to say am pleasantly surprised that I liked the story as well as the author, Caitlin Crews.

Spending “Summer Nights With A Cowboy”, Zack Kittredge, who also happens to be the Sheriff of Cold River, was definitely not in the traveling nurse Janie Atwood‘s plan. But then fate always throws in a lasso of a twist, and from trying to discover her roots, Janie ends up falling in love with Zack. Janie was never a part of his plan, but Zack will definitely protect his town and his spunky neighbor Damaris, from any harm. All it takes is some charm lessons, friendly conversations, and honesty for Janie and Zac to give their spark of attraction a chance to fire a future with each other.

I liked that Caitlin Crews gives more page time to Janie a chance to discover her past and come to terms with it, at the same time resolving family dynamics among the Kittredges. A heartwarming read.

A romantic suspense/thriller from Rebecca Zanetti cannot be missed!!!

Start to a new series, “You Can Run” introduces Laurel Snow as the main protagonist in this series, and I just fell in love with her character. Strong yet vulnerable, super smart and intelligent, yet she’s her mother’s daughter, caring, kind and loving, and she makes hunting  killers her profession, and keeping innocent people safe as her passion.

And of course, Laurel Snow needs some muscle back up and support hunting the evil, and a bit of romance maybe, and so Rebecca drops Huck Rivers into her life. Aloof, broody, betrayed and with a big chip on his shoulder, he becomes Laurel’s shadow and protector.

Rebecca drops in a couple of crazy twists into this starter, and thus begins a truly and intense suspense read, and a great start to a brand new series. The narration is great, an intense and twisted plot, and add in Laurel Snow’s family, and just her quirky take on life, you will not be able to put this book down.

A brand new author for my read, Erin Parisien, (courtesy Book Sirens) has been a reasonably author to read, “His Saving Grace”

Medically discharged, cowboy Mason Callahan returns to his home, Triple C Ranch, to figure out his future and as well as reconnect with his family. And unearth the new secrets of the new hire Grace, his mother’s assistant.

Grace is flying under the radar, biding her time to make sure that she can build as many walls as possible to keep the dangers of her past getting to her. Working at Triple C Ranch gives her some security and time to plan her next move, but that plan never included the return of the prodigal Callahan son.

Erin Parisien, writes a good plot and narrates a reasonable story line and “His Saving Grace” is a decent read. But her characters do need more development or I should say a chemistry that would bleed out of her writing. They do lack that aura of intensity between them that would have made this book memorable.
