I’ve followed Rachel Lacey since her first book and have never looked back. She’s one of my feel-good-go-to authors that I adore and love reading. And she’s all set to rock with her new series “Risking It All” and taking the lead in this series is “Rock With You”, a short story setting the series in motion.

Sweet as sugar Carly Taylor meets sexy as sin rock star Sam Weiss!

Sam Weiss is relegated to the tiny town of Haven, NC to escape unwarranted media attention to the mess in his personal life and work on an album that would bring him back to his rock star status. Not an easy task considering he’s missing his mojo and ends up in A Piece Of Cake.

Carly Taylor is a big fan of Sam Weiss and seeing him standing in her bakery doesn’t do any good to her libido. Circumstances put them under one roof leading them to explore the spark of attraction. But different worlds separate them, and Carly has made up her mind to cherish the sweet moments in her heart for forever and Sam is ready to take on the world again as the rock star.

But can the sexy rock star stay away from his crazy beautiful?

As addictive as Carly’s cinnamon rolls, “Rock With You” is a short and sweet start to Rachel Lacey’s new series. With likable characters and good narration, it is a quick and warm read that definitely will bring a smile to the lips and warmth to the heart.

“Don’t Tempt Me” by Lori Foster is a welcome diversion from her MMA series making the book charming and running a parallel love story is just too much of a temptation to ignore. And I have to say that the story was more than what I had expected and more. Two friends different as night day, yet soul sisters since their childhood, find family, support and love in the most unexpected of circumstances.

Honor Brown and Lexie Perkins have been the best friends since forever and when Honor moves into her new house, Lexie is right beside her supporting Honor as she deals with pain and a bunch of spiteful relatives. The unexpected appearance of her neighbors and especially Jason Guthrie takes Honor’s life into a spin. Jason is one of the most patient, helpful and kind man that she comes across and for Honor whose life’s been a struggle of abandonment and nastiness, believing in Jason is a huge step towards her fight for a normal life.

Don'tTemptMe-GuthrieBrothers#1-LoriFoster-July2017

As Lexie stands next to Honor, having Sullivan Dean on her side is a bonus and the attraction that flares between them is reason enough for these two to explore for a future of togetherness. As a martial teacher, Sullivan has seen a lot of bullying, pain and betrayal and teaching and guiding the teens to a better life is his goal. Spunky Lexie is definitely not on his agenda.

And when danger seems to threaten their women, no one can stand in their way to protect the women they love. Two couples we’ll fall in love for their amazing chemistry and charisma. Two couples that Lori Foster made sure to characterize with their own individuality and not impose over each other, and two couples with patience, strength, care and understanding bring out the best in each other to give us a romantic read that warms the heart.

Lori Foster did a terrific job of keeping these two stories connected and intertwined as needed, and is double the pleasure. I’ve always loved the way Lori Foster makes sure all bases are covered in her romances, be it supporting characters, closing loops and paying attention to details. And “Don’t Tempt Me” book one in new series “Guthrie Brother” is a definite five start read for me.

It has been a long time since I read Elisabeth Naughton and her latest release “Repressed” is the perfect book to dig into, captivating me as always with her suspense and romance, bringing back memories of why she’s one of my favorites!

For Samantha Parker, coming back to Hidden Falls after eighteen years brings back hazy memories and nightmares that seem to haunt her. Teaching high school chemistry and living in Hidden Falls is not on her agenda, yet she gets herself sucked into helping a troubled teenager stay out trouble. But the handsome child psychologist Ethan McClane doesn’t make it any easy for as she tries to figure out if he’s a friend or a foe.

Repressed-DeadlySecrets#1-ElisabethNaughton-July2016

Coming back to Hidden Falls brings Ethan face to face with a past that was incidental in him becoming a psychologist. It also brings him face to face with evil among friends and face to face with the charming and stunning chemistry teacher. Helping Sam understand the mystery behind her nightmares as well as help a teenager doesn’t seem to stem the chemistry between them.

But along with love and romance, comes danger and death, comes secrets and betrayal that puts Sam right into the path of a past that wants to silence her forever. A past that Ethan is intertwined and Sam’s repressed memories once surfaced can put an end to their love.

Gosh how I missed reading Elisabeth Naughton!!! Sam and Ethan were perfectly imperfect, the plot was tight and gritty, and the suspense was stretched to the penultimate pages keeping me rooted to my chair keeping me awake into the wee hours of the morning to finish the book.

A definite more than 5 stars in my opinion and a definite paperback addition to my library.

Adding another new author to my list to be read again and again! In fact I went and bought a few of her books! I always get goose bumps every time I read a new author and end up loving them for repeat reads and a place in my library.

Vonnie Davis is a brand new author and her latest (and first for me), “Her Survivor” takes readers into the stories of the courageous and brave soldiers who guard us with their lives, and the aftermath of war and death. But let me assure that there is plenty of romance to warm the heart.

HerSurvivor-BlackEagleOps#1-VonnieDavis-Jul2016

Navy Seal Dustin Frank is recovering from the trauma of losing a leg and getting acclimated to a life that will just not be normal anymore, yet he needs to make it normal to survive. Heading to Eagle Ridge Ranch to surround with his army brothers to recuperate, never did he dream of a life that comes in the bookstore owner Kelcee Todd.

Inheriting the bookstore that she loves with all her heart, Kelcee Todd is all set to step into the next chapter of her life. Strong and independent, warm and compassionate, supportive and kind, Kelcee Todd has a lot to be grateful for and has a baggage of past to unload.

Together Kelcee and Dustin are at each other’s throats, together they set the sparks on fire and together they sizzle between the sheets, and together they have to overcome a danger from the past, if they want to have a chance at a future together.

Vonnie Davis does a brilliant job of caricaturing Dustin as the struggling war veteran, giving us an insight into the lives of these brave wounded soldiers, fighting the nightmares of death and tragedy, yet giving them hope as they cling to the support and warmth of friends and kind people. Kelcee Todd is a firecracker of a woman, going toe to toe with Dustin as his better half.

I thoroughly enjoyed getting to know Dustin and Kelcee, along with the supporting characters, and the thrill of looking forward to a new series as Vonnie Davis lays foundation to the Black Eagle Ops with the first book, “Her Survivor”.

Stacey Lynn is a first time read for me and I did find her book “His To Protect” interesting. I believe this is book two in her Fireside Series, bringing Katrina Wilson to the warmth and safety of Declan James.

HisToProtect-Fireside#2-StaceyLynn-July2016

Running from her powerful and abusive husband, Trina Wilson finds a place to rest to before she can plan her next move. Saving every penny and trying to feed Boomer, her only ally in this nightmare, she gets caught by Declan James and circumstances lead her to get a job at his restaurant.

Trying to keep the restaurant running that he and his wife had started, Declan is burning both ends of the candle after his wife leaves him. Trina coming into his life gives him a motivation and purpose to protect and love, and hope for a future that he had given up.

Interesting story as Declan and Trina get to know each other, with good supporting characters adding to the mix, “His To Protect” is a good read. There are a few occasions I felt the story dragged a bit and lost its grip, but overall it’s alright. Stacey did a good job with her characters and plot, but there’s definitely room for progression in her narration.
