And when that happens, what we get is an explosion of lust and passion, betrayal and pain, danger and death.

Ian Walsh has two passions – being a firefighter and loving Rory Sorenson. He may be a member of a Motorcycle Club, but it’s all within the boundaries of law. Being set up for a murder was never on his agenda, and fighting to keep Rory alive was definitely not what he had dreamed of. Yet circumstances make him a suspect in a murder, and Rory getting into the crosshairs of a personal attack turns his life upside down.

Rory is one kickass and diplomatic business lady keeping peace as deals in firearms. Unfortunately she finds herself right in the center of a gang war, and she and Ian have their job cut out as they try to stay alive.

Pretty intense, sexy and captivating, “Fan The Flames” is an adrenaline ride of danger, gangs and the reality of a world that exists under the radar and the brotherhood of these factions.

A fairly new author, and a new series, Katie Ruggle keeps the interest flowing and the passion flaming. And I’ve read her first book, Hold Your Breath and it was pretty captivating.

A definite good read for me. Do not miss the prequel novella of the series “On His Watch”, a thrilling start to her new series!

Book three in the Scarlet Falls Series by Melinda Leigh, brings Mac Barrett from the drug infested and bullet ridden Amazon jungles to his hometown of Scarlet Falls, as his father breathes his last. Even as his family buries the Colonel, the little town of Scarlet Falls is once again thrown into a gruesome murder. And that takes Mac right to Stella Dane, and his heart has never forgotten the detective.

Taking the lead on the murder investigation, stakes are high for Stella as she races against time with her partner McNamara to stop a psychotic killer. As the killer targets reformed drug addicts, he comes too close to home as her friend is kidnapped and Mac gets into the crosshairs of the killer. With time running out and life hanging by mere seconds, it takes all of Stella’s skills and the support of her department to save the people she cares the most.

SecondsToLive-ScarletFalls#3

Mac has been my favorite Barrett sibling with is quite and lethal demeanor. Working for the DEA undercover has given him a hard edge, yet Stella is the only one who can calm him and his heart. Stella had always had a special place for Mac and working together to catch the killer only reinforces the love she has for him. Strong, independent and a good heart is what Stella is made of as she goes through her own demons of guilt and pain.

Two strong individuals, two people with painful pasts and two protectors who would go to any length to keep their families safe, Mac and Stella make one amazing couple.

I loved the way Melinda Leigh incorporated the plot around a mad killer and yet not lose sight of the dynamics of the Barrett family. Regrets, redemptions and secrets are out in the open, as Melinda brings the family together, with care, love and support. She does a brilliant job of giving the story the co-existence of danger and presence of a strong family that had been through loss, pain and betrayal.

“Seconds To Live” can be read as a stand-alone, but I would highly recommend readers to start with “Hour Of Need” (where it all started), to enjoy the following books to the fullest

The Red Stone Security Series by Katie Reus is one of my top favorites to-go-to-when-I-need-a-lift-kind of books, and I’ve revisited times innumerable, utterly captivating, intense and full of passion and danger.

“Love Thy Enemy” is another intense and passionate love story bringing Dominique Castle into the sight of Viktor Ivanov. Employed with Red Stone Security and under their family circle, Dominique is making a new life leaving a painful past; a past that is connected to Viktor’s father and a past that gives caution to her fluttering heart when she sees Viktor.

Viktor and his brother Abram have toiled night and day to erase the past of evil that connects them. Working hard to make sure their lives and business are legitimate, they have come long ways in reaching the pinnacle of success with sheer determination. And that determination is what Viktor is fielding to get close to Dominique and prove that his present is as good as it can get.

As attraction flares, so does danger that puts Dominique in the crosshairs of a past that lost everything and wants to avenge by taking away the love that Viktor has by his side. As Viktor moves heaven and earth to keep Dominique safe, Abram gets his own story as he falls in love with Lucy, Viktor’s assistant.

Another wonderful love story, and I just loved Viktor; maybe because I believe in second chances and we become what we are depending on our circumstances and not so much of blood relations and Viktor sets that example. The relationship between brothers is solid and loved their dynamics.

“Love Thy Enemy” is a quick and a really, really captivating story and the cover is gorgeous!!!!

Laura Griffin is one of my super favorite suspense writers that have bewitched me with her amazing Glass Sister series and the Tracers Series.

ShadowFall-TracersSeries#9-LauraGriffin

It’s hard writing a review for a thriller without giving away spoilers. It’s always a pleasure to revisit her amazing characters of this series as they keep making appearances in the various stories. And as the Delphi Center and the Wolfe Security co-exit and crossover, it only adds an element of suspense and danger to this series, making it even more irresistible to avoid and just get caught up in the danger and evil surrounding these characters.

Book nine of the series, “Shadow Fall”, Laura Griffin brings Special Agent Tara Rushing and ex-marine security expert Liam Wolfe together as they investigate a murder. With Liam right in the middle of the investigation, Tara has her work cut out for her – to prove his innocence and also guard her heart from breaking.

Another chilling and twisted story of evil and death, love and danger as Liam and Tara race against time to stay alive and bring justice to the fallen. And reviews do no justice to Laura Griffin’s thrillers!

Brenda Novak is one brilliant writer/author I have the pleasure of reading. She’s a maestro at weaving heartfelt romances with tasteful flavor and with equal vigor she churns some amazing mysteries that grips her readers from page one to the very last line.

“The Secret Sister”, book one of her Fairham Island series brings Maisey Lazarow back to her hometown of Fairham, SC. Reeling from a bitter divorce, Maisey comes back to build her shattered life back and rebuild her relationship with her troubled brother Keith. Coming back also brings back memories of pain and a mother that she wants to avoid. Coming back also puts her in front of Rafe Romero, her first love.

TheSecretSister-Aug2015-BrendaNovak

Rafe Romero comes back to the island to heal and raise his blind daughter. He’s built his life back, albeit a few scars and pain. Coming face to face with Maisey brings up a whole bucket load of emotions that he’s not ready to face. But with him renovating the cottage and living next door to Maisey only makes so much more difficult to stay away from her.

With Rafe and Maisey thrown together, rekindles feelings long buried and the possibility of love and forgiveness. As they try to deal with their feelings, Brenda surprises us with a twist in the story as old pictures bring back memories of a sister that Maisey vaguely seem to remember.

And now with mystery added into the equation, “The Secret Sister” takes the readers on a roller coaster ride of pain, love and forgiveness.

I can’t wait for Brenda Novak to give Keith his closure on pain and a chance at love.
