You Can Run – But Not From Laurel Snow!

A romantic suspense/thriller from Rebecca Zanetti cannot be missed!!!

Start to a new series, “You Can Run” introduces Laurel Snow as the main protagonist in this series, and I just fell in love with her character. Strong yet vulnerable, super smart and intelligent, yet she’s her mother’s daughter, caring, kind and loving, and she makes hunting  killers her profession, and keeping innocent people safe as her passion. 

And of course, Laurel Snow needs some muscle back up and support hunting the evil, and a bit of romance maybe, and so Rebecca drops Huck Rivers into her life. Aloof, broody, betrayed and with a big chip on his shoulder, he becomes Laurel’s shadow and protector. 

Rebecca drops in a couple of crazy twists into this starter, and thus begins a truly and intense suspense read, and a great start to a brand new series. The narration is great, an intense and twisted plot, and add in Laurel Snow’s family, and just her quirky take on life, you will not be able to put this book down.

His Saving Grace – Grace’s Cowboy Protector

A brand new author for my read, Erin Parisien, (courtesy Book Sirens) has been a reasonably author to read, “His Saving Grace”. 

Medically discharged, cowboy Mason Callahan returns to his home, Triple C Ranch, to figure out his future and as well as reconnect with his family. And unearth the new secrets of the new hire Grace, his mother’s assistant. 

Grace is flying under the radar, biding her time to make sure that she can build as many walls as possible to keep the dangers of her past getting to her. Working at Triple C Ranch gives her some security and time to plan her next move, but that plan never included the return of the prodigal Callahan son.

Erin Parisien, writes a good plot and narrates a reasonable story line and “His Saving Grace” is a decent read. But her characters do need more development or I should say a chemistry that would bleed out of her writing. They do lack that aura of intensity between them that would have made this book memorable.

Prince Of Naraka – Hindu Mythology Revisit

A first time read of a new author, Sundar Nathan, and Hindu mythology as the genre, can be interesting. Growing up on innumerable mythological stories, and our greatest epics to date, Ramayana and Mahabharata, “Prince Of Naraka” can be an enthralling read to people who find this genre absorbing and would like to know more of Hindu mythology.

As much as I loved coming across the names of various Gods and mythological creatures that I grew up reading in my childhood, the first book in the series is pretty lengthy for me. Sundar Nathan has grandiose imagination and his fascination for fantasy is an admirable trait as a writer,  and as a first time author has done an adequate narration, but I definitely would have preferred a reasonable length for his first introductory book in the series, for the readers to get used to the characters and the plot line of the story.

For a first time author, it is a decent start. It takes courage and perseverance to become an author and for that he gets my accolades.

For diverse and interested readers, a word of caution that this is a continuing plot line to be followed in future books in the series, and this story does have a lot of Indian dialect and vocabulary.

Silent Protector – From The Shadows In The Dark

Katie Reus takes the readers back to Verona Bay, giving us another thrilling read as she brings Max Collins to Adeline Rodriguez. 

Max with his brothers is rooted in Verona Bay, and Adeline Rodriguez finally finds her roots in the small town as she makes a fresh start co-owning a pet grooming business. A small miscommunication leads to Adeline and Max staying under the same roof, and is a perfect intimate situation to spark the attraction between Max and Adeline into a fire. 

Life couldn’t be much more simple and romantic than this, but even small towns have their share of evil and danger. Max becomes entangled in a dangerous past that seems to threaten his family and loved ones, and Adeline has some secrets that not everyone is privy to. Max being the protector, becomes Adeline’s “Silent Protector”. But they have to work together to face this danger if they ever want to make a future with each other.

It’s always nice revisiting previous characters and Katie Reus always makes sure they make an appearance in future books in a series. Another quick and thrilling read that would appease any reader’s palette.

Read Between The Lines – For The Nuances Of Love

Rachel Lacey starts a new series, Ms. Right, with the first book titled “Read Between The Lines”, with Rosie Taft and Jane Breslin navigating their love story. Book addict and bookstore owner Rosie Taft meets her online friend and favorite author Brie in the persona of Jane Breslin wherein her Dad’s company is responsible for demolishing the building that houses Rosie’s store. After several misunderstandings, insecurities and dates leads to Rosie and Jane finding their happily ever after. 

Somehow “Read Between The Lines”, did not deliver to me the complete prowess of Rachel Lacey. It is a good read albeit the chemistry and intensity that I normally enjoy in her books. I wish she had given more depth to her characters Rosie and Jane, and developed their relationship with more maturity as mature women. I actually had more fun with Lia than Jane and Rosie. But I also have to give credit to the way she played out the outing of Brie to her family. Seemed very practical and realistic. 

It’s a good romance read for sure and most readers would definitely enjoy the story. Don’t get me wrong, I did enjoy reading it, but I missed the Rachel Lacey magic that I enjoyed in her previous books.
