The Purgatory never has been this beastly and passionate!!!!!

The third in “The Purgatory Series”, Cynthia Eden takes us on a ride of crazy experiments and the ramifications of evil minds, all in the name of power and control. This series gets better and better with every book and every story.

Connor Marrock is obligated to work for the Seattle Para Unit; one last mission and he wants out. His intended last job to protect the beautiful Chloe Quick goes awry as dangerous werewolves pursue them. Of course if his body stays away from her, and he keeps his mind properly glued to his shoulders, he may safe Chloe’s hide. A beast himself, and a deadly one at that, he cannot control the pull he feels for Chloe, nor does he want to resist her.

All Chloe Quick ever wanted was her freedom. A freedom to be the person she wants to be, a freedom to do things like normal beings, and a freedom to be loved and love. Used as an experimental tool for evil, and killed by her crazy father, Chloe wants to run away from the turmoil happening within her body and the chaos surrounding her. As she tries to figure out who or what she really is, her life depends on Connor to keep her safe she wants to trust Connor to keep her sanity.

As the primal attraction reaches dangerous levels, Connor needs to hang on to his control as an obsessive werewolf is after Chloe and her talent. A fascinating read as Cynthia Eden brings in her previous vampires/werewolves of the Para Unit together to help Chloe and her death she endures several times. With raw passion touching the limits, evil that sees no boundaries and a unit that is hell bent on saving the innocent, “Charming The Beast” is one adrenaline ride of paranormal fantasy!

Made For You – Mistakes On The Mend

I’ve read Lauren Layne a couple of times, although she hasn’t been my regular list of writers. It’s just a time crunch aspect; because she is a good writer and I enjoyed the books I’ve read so far.

“Made For You” is the second in her “The Best Mistake” Series (the first been “Only With You) and is a charming story of a successful playboy, going after the lady who stole his heart eons ago.

Brynn Dalton is a successful and rich orthodontist and the innumerable lists she makes and the milestones that should have been a part of her life as she goes from year to year control her life. Childhood physical issues and high school’s painful experiences have made her what she is today, and unfortunately it is not making her happy. When her current boyfriend dumps her, she throws caution to the wind, and ends up striking a deal with her one time lover William Thatcher to have a fling. Going completely opposite to her character, she ends up enjoying this new life way more than she had anticipated.

William Thatcher had loved Brynn since high school, and he has been harassing her to cover up his own feelings for her. With his Casanova image, he does not give Brynn any reason to think otherwise. He comes back to claim his love, and weaves a game plan to get Brynn back. With Brynn striking a deal with him to have a fling, Will sees this as a perfect opportunity to woo her back.

But is Brynn capable of letting go of her lists and uptight attitude to her life, or will it backfire for Will and he may lose the only woman he had ever loved. Lauren Layne pens an emotional story of pain and hurt, of second chances and risks, of support and patience and of a love and trust that can make a promising future, despite a few mistakes.

The Heart Of Christmas – Whiskey Creek Stands United

Here’s another fabulous author/writer who takes great pleasure in keeping her readers entertained with her varied genre of books, from romance to suspense. Brenda Novak’s been one of my favorite writers/authors for a while and her Whiskey Creek Series infamous for giving us plenty of stories.

“The Heart Of Christmas” holds Eve Harmon close to heart as the people of Whiskey Creek, CA keeps their own protected and safe. Eve runs a B&B and has a very strong and loyal support of friends, friends who are almost all married and some with children. Her thirty fifth birthday brings melancholy and sadness as she feels that her life is what is now, not able to find the right guy; have a family and kids like her friends. And this birthday she wakes with a stranger in her bed!

Brent Taylor ( aks Rex and other names) is passing through Whiskey Creek, running away from ghosts that refuse to leave him alone. One night with Eve and he is more than attracted to her. But with a dangerous past on his heels, all he can give Eve is lies and love, but no commitment. As he falls more and more into Eve’s love and understanding, his lies catch up to the truth and he has not choice but confess to Eve, risking all that he has come to treasure.

As Eve tries to come to grips with Rex’s reality, her whole team of coffee-friends rallies around her with support and love. Another great story from Brenda Novak, as she pens the pain, frustration and anguish of Rex, to the emotions of loneliness and love of Eve. The Heart Of Christmas takes us on a journey of love and passion, pain and guilt, support and solidarity of a small town, that believes in the magic of Christmas and miracles.

Christmas On 4th Street – A Fool’s Gold Perfection!

Anyone who knows Susan Mallery, will know her Fool’s Gold Series. As quaint as the name of the town, so are her stories set in Fool’s Gold, golden and charming; a perfect blend of unconditional love, support and friendship.

Army doctor Gabriel Boylan comes to Fool’s Gold to recuperate from an injury and also reconnect with his brother Gideon. For him the holidays carry bittersweet memories of a past filled with pain and anger. Yet all is not in vain, as he comes across Noelle Perkins, perky, smart and always keeping a smile and trying to make others laugh.

Noelle Perkins lands in Fool’s Gold by the prick of a pin, and hasn’t regretted one moment of it. Enfolded into the warmth and love of Fool’s Gold, she embraces the second chance that life was kind enough to give. Running her own store The Christmas Attic, she loves every breath of her life. With amazing friends for support, maybe this Christmas, she may find her partner in love.

With weddings on the horizon, and relationships to be mended and forgiven, Gabriel and Noelle find themselves falling for each other. But even as Noelle accepts her feelings, Gabriel is far from putting roots and that too in Fool’s Gold. But as Gideon says, Fool’s Gold gets to you eventually, maybe Gabriel can find that support and love from Noelle and she may vey well be his roots for a new future.

Another lovely story by Susan Mallery, and it’s wonderful to revisit the characters from her previous books. Another golden winner from her basket.

Charade – Sinfully Masqueraded

Lori Foster and her sinful writings; stories of alpha males and sassy females; pleasure and pain all wrapped into presents of fun, witty and remarkable reads.

“Charade” is two individual stories Impetuous (1995) and Outrageous (1997), republished under one title, but keeping the original titles within. Good for me as both are non-reads and I thoroughly enjoyed both the books, although Impetuous was my favorite of the two.

A dashing pirate and a ravishing harem girl come together in “Impetuous” giving us a sizzling read of two complete opposites being attracted. Tyler Ramsey falls head over heels for Carlie McDaniels and they have one sensual night of pleasure and passion. Tyler is clueless to the identity of the luscious beauty and Carlie likes to keep it that way. Circumstances bring Tyler and Carlie to work with kids after school, and Tyler slowly realizes he is falling in love with the frumpy Carlie and yet feels guilty remembering the harem girl. Carlie gave up her heart to Tyler already and yet her insecurities keep Tyler at bay. Now it’s to be seen if that one night of recklessness can give them a chance at a future of love and trust.

Now, time for a male stripper, Judd Sanders; “Outrageous”-ly handsome and strips Emily Cooper of her bearings. Working undercover in a strip club, Judd is hunting the killer who had put bullets into his father figure Max, and Emily with all her sophistication and money is trying to blend into the dark side searching for the guy who is selling faulty guns making her brother one of the victims. Judd saves her ass from getting killed and both end up under one roof in the name of danger and protection. Outrageous as it seems to Emily’s parents, there is no less passion and chemistry between these two, and sure scorched the sheets. Enough to make a future is the big question.

Two fun reads for a perfect weekend or with a mug of delicious hot chocolate!
