Not sure what it is, but somehow “Caught Up In You” was very slow to catch my interest and keep me reading. For a short novella, it took me a couple of days to finish this story.

Declan is a famous artist coming back to his hometown The Bay and wanting to set roots after years of wanderlust. Besides caring for his aging father, his main goal is to get the girl of his dreams. Having fled the altar a few times before, he has a lot of convincing to do, if he wants to gain Shelby’s trust and his plans for the future with her…. forever.

CaughtUpInYou-Kimboykin-Apr2015

Having a crush on Declan forever, Shelby tries hard to stay away from commitment scared Declan, but then fate has other plans. First crush turns into something deeper, but Shelby has lots of insecurities to overcome before she can see how serious Declan is about loving her.

The storyline is good, but I feel that Shelby and Declan got the raw end of the deal of this novella with no development of character. I am not saying “Caught Up In You” is a bad read, it’s quite the contrary, but it definitely lacked some charm and magnetism between these two. The secondary characters were good adding a bit of charm to the story.

Kim Boykin is a first time author on my list, and despite the missing magic, I may circle back to her.

Talk about an interesting and different story! Co-written by Catherine Mann and Joanne Rock, “The Wedding Audition” (Runaway Bride Series 2), is easy on the mind, charming to read and warm to the heart.

TheWeddingAudition-RunawayBrideSeries-Mann&JoanneRock-Apr2015

Runaway reality star and soon-to-be-ex-bride Annamae Jessup leaves behind a cable network show and takes a road trip to visit her roots. Her trip lands her in the apple orchards of Wynn Rafferty, a cop in a witness protection program. Annamae brings the gossip and tabloids in her wake, and Wynn tries to save her and himself from the threat of a Mafia lord.

With felines and canines for company, Annamae discovers more than she bargained for, and in the process rediscovers herself and what she really wants to make of her life. Attraction and desire spark lust and love, and Wynn and Annamae succumb to the fire of passion.

Witty dialogues and a sassy Grandma make this story even more fun to read. I have always loved Catherine Mann, and now Joanne Rock is a first time read, and this combo created a pretty magnetic story for the readers. Annamae is just hilarious and a bundle of surprises and Wynn is the ever magnetic and sweet guy who falls head over heels his raw harvest skills for the reality star.

Enjoyable and romantic, “The Wedding Auction” definitely spreads smiles.

Judy Fennell came as a gift to be read and sure surprised me with her Beefcake and Cupcake partnership – partnership of a hunky, sexy and beefy Gage Tomlinson with the sweet and delectable Lara Cavallo.

BeefcakeAndCupcakes-BeefcakeInc!-JudiFennell-Apr2015

All Lara Cavallo wanted was for her business Cavallo Cups And Cakes to reach delicious levels of success, yet she gets sidetracked by the tantalizing Gage, so much so that she doesn’t even remember going to his room with him or what happened that night of Gage himself.

Gage Tomlinson’s main goal is to make his business Beefcake Inc. successful and get the necessary money to help for his nephew’s surgery. As part owner of the exotic dance company, never expected to get thrown for a loop by the melting and hot buttercream of a woman named Lara.

An utterly delicious and surprise package of a read, in the first book of the series, “Beefcake And Cupcakes”you can’t help but fall in love with Gage and Lara. For a first time read of Judi Fennell, she sure caught my attention and went on my list of circling back to her…. for more of her delectable cupcakes and beefy hotness! Good story line, good characterization and a fabulous narration of desire and trust all rolled into a connotation of love and a future filled with happiness and hope.

A definite good read, and I for sure can’t wait to catch up on Judi Fennell’s beefy stories.

The closer I got to the crux of the story, the more it kindled my interest. Ann Jacobs writes some really nice stories and her Oil Barons Series is pretty charming.

Second in the series, “The Closer We Get” brings single mom Erin Winters up, close and personal with Blake Tanner. Losing her husband in a car accident and trying to get the necessary treatment for her wheel-chaired toddles, leaves Erin with becoming a surrogate mother to pay for the impending surgery. But circumstances throw things into a roller coaster ride of uncertainties and fears as she ends up in a marriage to the sperm donor.

TheCloserWeGet-OilBarons2-AnnJacobs-Apr2015

Rich and affluent attorney Blake Tanner loses his wife to a stray bullet bringing him face to face with Erin Winters carrying his child. Despite his initial resistance and reservations, Blake ends up with Erin under his roof and in the safety of his arms. As he gets closer to mother and son, sparks ignite to lust. As he gets to know Erin on a daily basis, lust turns into desire and love.

Ann Jacobs weaves a pretty interesting story around Blake and Erin. As much as I liked Blake and Erin and their chemistry, I did feel that the process of forgiveness, guilt and feelings needed a more intense delivery. Weaving in Erin’s sister’s and Blake’s friend’s story into the main storyline was pretty good as a supporting cast.

“The Closer We Get” is set at a little bit of a slow pace, but definitely charming enough to finish in one sitting.

“Within These Walls”, Jude and Lailah had formed an undeniable bond of love and trust. Both of them had a multitude of demons to fight and despite giving her heart to Jude, had to get a new heart. They sacrificed a lot, and lived through separation and pain that came with any couple in love.

And now, Jude and Lailah are all set for a life “Beyond These Walls”. A life that had seen them in wedded bliss and a family that supports and loves them unconditionally. Beyond these walls, Jude and Lailah are living the life of their dreams, crossing out things on Lailah’s list, yet always on the edge of that fear that something can go wrong.

BeyondTheseWalls-ReleaseDayPic1-Apr2015

In married bliss, Jude and Lailah are surprised with news that threatens to tear them apart. Emotions on a precipice, uncertainty and fear dogging their lives, Jude never gives up on Lailah, and Lailah puts her entire life in Jude’s hands. Strength, courage and forgiveness have given Jude and Lailah a chance at love and future, and now tenacity, support, love and hope have kept them together.

I don’t think words would do justice to J.L Berg’s latest release “Beyond These Walls” Jennifer has moved beyond the walls of her imagination, creating Jude and Lailah as human as possible, and beyond fictional characters. She has poured her heart and soul into Jude and Lailah , two bravehearts destined to be together and get a second lease of life.

With her sheer imagination and creative finesse, J.L Berg has done a brilliant job with giving Jude and Lailah their dream and her epilogue is one of my favorites and so very close to my heart. I cannot be more proud than I am now of an author I had followed since her very first book and her impressive and illustrious journey so far. Jude and Lailah still remain her crowning glory in my personal opinion.

Yes, “Beyond These Walls” can be read alone, but I highly recommend that the readers read “Within These Walls”, to understand Jude and Lailah, their pain and love, sacrifice and hope, and trust and dreams.

“Beyond These Walls” will break down the walls of your heart on April 21, 2015
