Mary Kildare and Glen Fairchild may be “Not Quite Perfect” for each other but somehow they find themselves together to make a perfect future.

Therapist and a good friend, Mary Kildare has rolled with the punches that life had dealt her, and she has become a successful therapist and had made a life. Although the scars of abandonment and loneliness have taken permanent residence emotionally, she has come a long way in making friends and planting roots. Her quite and normal life takes the wings of a wild and passionate course when Glen Fairchild makes an appearance again.

Wealthy businessman, playboy and pilot Glen Fairchild believes in non-commitment and is always on the course of playing the field. Yet Mary is never far away from his thoughts and when circumstances bring him back to Mary, he acts on the opportunity that fate has given him and so the romance starts.

Catherine Bybee always throws in a surprise and I really didn’t see that spark of danger lurking in Mary’s backyard! And Glen becomes the protector, savior and confident as they try to overcome the threat that shadows Mary. With sassy dialogues and flirty actions, with kind and caring people, pages of warmth and support, and appearance of previous characters only adds more magic to this love story as Mary and Glen try to make the best of a bicoastal relationship.

I love the way Catherine Bybee gives importance to the depth of relationships and the maturity of nurturing them with patience and love. She created Glen and Mary to perfection with their goodness, kindness and just two beautiful people who deserve to be together. Attention to details, the sequence of narration and the practical plot add more flavor and warmth to this fifth book in the “Not Quite Series” making it a brilliant read.

The last book in the Dark Kings Series has the Dragon Kings of the Realm going through a major upheaval as their secrets have being aired to the mortals and the impending war just seems to bubble slowly to a boiling point. Amidst the war, the Dragon Kings seem to find love and passion. As each Dragon King finds his mate, the forces of evil refuse to stay in the shadows even as the powerful forces of the realm seem to take sides.

Smoke&Fire-DragonKings-DonnaGrant

“Smoke And Fire” gives dragon shifter Ryder his mate and his love story. Ryder is helping protect and guard Glasgow as Dark seems to stalk the streets and death seems inevitable to the humans. With new Dark comes new danger. Ryder has his hands full with keeping his mate Kinsey safe and guard against Ulrich’s unexpected moves.

This story is more a filler to bring Ryder and Kinsey together. There are too many secrets in the realm that seems to give this war a whole another definition. Although have it in good authority that big secrets are to be revealed in the next few stories.

The cover is fabulous, the story a more filler leading to the big fire and secrets only add to the speculation and suspense of what may be the outcome for the Dragon Kings. And Donna Grant keeps the plot moving along.

The saga and the thrill at Sweetwater Ranch continue with the fifth book in the series “The Deputy’s Redemption” by Delores Fossen. The series can be read as stand alones, but reading them in sequence is so much more satisfying.

Deputy Colt McKinnon of Sweetwater Springs comes face to face with a past that turns out to be a battle against danger and saving his family from death. Saving Elise Nichols in the dead of the night from a killer was not on his menu and neither is the attraction and love he had for all these years flare up and consume with a passion, a love dangerous enough to put his family at risk.

Elise Nichols grew up with the McKinnon family, and now fourteen years later returns to Sweetwater Springs as the star witness in Colt’s mother’s trial. Elise is not immune to the attraction and love she had for Colt all those years ago and having him safe her life only strengthens her love for him. But being the star witness with revelations that can tear apart the McKinnon family, and a killer stuck to her back, she has no hope of building on a desire that she may never live to see.

The McKinnon family gets under your skin, and you can’t but help read the series. Delores Fossen keeps the suspense going strong as she weaves a story around each member of the McKinnon family. She does a brilliant job of incorporating sub plots, without losing sight of the primary plot or its key elements. And so true with her writing, Delores doesn’t cut corners creating Colt and Elise, two strong characters, needing each other yet independent, fighting for justice in the face of danger, and courageous enough to accept their feelings in the midst of deathly chaos and follow their hearts.

“The Deputy’s Redemption” is another sizzling story of redemption of love, of forgiveness and acceptance and of a family that supports and protects their own, no matter what. With danger dogging every page, adrenaline coursing through every word, and with love and trust on the line, “The Deputy’s Redemption” is a must read.
