I’ve read Carolyn Brown and have always liked her stories and narration. I’ve fallen in love with some of her sweet and light romantic stories. Unfortunately “Daises In The Canyon”, just did not work for me.

Abby Malloy is an ex-army sergeant who’s father Ezra Malloy passes away leaving his ranch as her legacy along with her two stepsisters. Coming to the Malloy ranch to claim her rights, her father’s will constitutes her to spend at least one year along with her stranger sisters, to learn ranching and to decide the fate of the ranch after one year.

Sheriff Cooper Wilson is her next-door neighbor and a good friend of her father’s. Along with keeping justice in the town, he is smitten by Abby and wants to keep her in Palo Duro Canyon, and reassure her of a secure future and his love.

It should have been a simple love story with the local town hotshot sheriff Cooper falling for the wing born Abby, and it should have been a pleasant read. But the characters lacked depth and the narration lacked conviction. The story was not really threaded in to keep the interest of the reader and the series of events together. There was just too much dialogue and constant activity for me to play the scenes in my mind’s eye or keep my mind from roving. And I felt that Abby and Cooper fell for each other way too soon without a proper justification leading to it.

I am not sure if I will complete this book, for now I couldn’t go further. And that doesn’t in any way deter me from reading Carolyn Brown.

I don’t recall reading Sawyer Bennett before, and she turns out to be my kind of writer and her upcoming “With A Twist” sure made me add her to my list of repeat writers to read.

Book four of her Last Call Series, takes us into the underworld of sex slavery with Wyatt Banks deep undercover to bring the leader to justice. Along comes Andrea Somerville, an FBI agent brought in undercover to lure the kingpin and help Wyatt take them down.

Fast paced, danger and adrenaline race to save the innocent woman, and add fiery attraction and sizzling chemistry between Wyatt and Andrea, we have one heck of a pulse- jumping story. Working deep undercover with close proximity only ignites the protectiveness for Andrea, and his tender touches and glances, only brings out the passionate woman hiding in Andrea.

In romantic suspense stories, typically there is plenty of aftermath of a covet operation. But I found it a welcome change when Andrea and Wyatt explore their feelings albeit strenuous situations. I found it to be a very pleasant surprise when Wyatt and Andrea actually take their romance at a slow pace, with family supporting them and friends bringing Andrea into their inner circle. And I loved Sawyer Bennett for giving importance to the circle of friends and family.

“With A Twist” is a definite winner for me, and I have to play catch up with the rest of the Last Call Series. “With A Twist” releases January 6, 2015.

…. And oh yes, let’s not forget sizzling eroticism and some hot phone sex!!!!

I just can’t get over Erin Nicholas’s amazing penchant of perfect timing for humor and her fabulous narration of a billionaire caught in the cross-hairs of a sassy, hate-your-money, sweet, and in-your-face lady!!!

What Matters Most to billionaire Tony Steele is to get the girl of his dreams away from marrying his best friend. Whisking her away to Vegas, they paint the town red, leave footprints at various clubs, and in between the tequila shots and dancing, propose and marry her – all in a matter of few hours. Waking up to Mrs. Steele beside him and not remembering a single minute of their mind-blowing night takes Mr. Steele from between the sheets into a frying pan.

What Matters Most to Reese Chaplin is to get away from her cheating bridegroom and the altar, lose herself in Vegas and Tony Steele. A night of magic, dancing, drinks and guilt-free celebration of passion, love and a spur of the moment wedding in a chapel!!! And all that mattered for Reese was that she’s with the man she had harbored secret feelings of lust and love, until reality kicks her in the rear.

And now What Matters Most for Tony is to convince the woman he loves that she’s the one for him with all her sweetness, independence, sassiness and her hatred for money. And he needs to convince her that sometimes it’s perfectly all right to enjoy life, and go crazy despite being a billionaire.

Tony is an absolutely fabulous billionaire, smart, helpful and just plain simple at heart, trying very hard to get rid of his billions to woo his lady back. Reese is the ultra helpful social worker, always looking out for the downtrodden, trying to balance the money and the have-nots. Both, adorable, frustrating, stubborn and so in love with each other!

There is not one single thing that I can pinpoint and say is the best. In the second book in Erin Nicholas’s Billionaire Bargain Series, “What Matters Most”, is that it’s a sheer perfection of humor, love, passion, and wit between a couple trying to bring a balance to their life, despite the fear of skydiving into a future with each other.

I’ve followed Jennifer Berg from her first book in the Ready Series, “When You Are Ready”, and have been enthralled with stories. And from her first book to the latest in the series, “Ready Or Not”, has been journey of hard work, apprehension, learning, progress and maturity from experience.

“Ready Or Not” brings Olivia Quinn and Jackson Reid as neighbors turning into friends to making a future with each other.

Liv breaks away from her wealthy political family to stand on her two feet, independent and working for what her heart believes in. She becomes a counselor with stellar qualifications and leaves behind her trust funds and a past that was swallowed by politics and power. And her professional experience brings her up close and personal with Jackson and his teenage son.

Single father Jackson is starting a new life with his teenage son, Noah, in a new city. His tryst with his puberty raged son brings him face to face with Liv, who coincidentally happens to be his neighbor; a neighbor, who happens to be giving him sleepless nights and making his life a living hell of raging hormones.

Attraction flares, sparks fly, passion reaches its zenith and they fall in love with all their past failures and insecurities. As Liv’s past comes to light, Jackson is a solid rock supporting her. With Noah going through changes and Jackson trying to be a good father, Liv eases his fears and insecurities. Personally, Liv and Jackson are my favorites.

Jennifer Berg has done a brilliant job of penning Liv and Jackson. Her maturity in writing is so very evident with the depth of her characters. There is so much more importance given to the relationship among her friends, the unconditional love and support from Liv’s extended family, the clarity of emotions between Jackson and Liv, made this story so much more precious and pleasurable to read.

The final installment of the “Someday Series” is a fitting ending to the start of a new phase of life for Jace and Cat. They met, dated, romanced with a passion and weathered some real upheavals in their life. And now is the ultimate testing time for their love and trust with each other, in each other.

ForeverUs-SomedaySeriesFinal-Dec2014

Life sure dealt a mean curve ball with the arrival of Jace’s son, Gavin throwing Jace and Cat for a loop. Control, power and manipulation being the fodder for Angelica James, she is conniving and thrives on blackmail to circumvent situations and people for her own personal gain. But there is always an end to the madness and Cat does a fine job of putting an end to it, with sophistication and class!

“Forever Us” is so much more than a love story. It’s the continuous evolution of two people, who have immense trust in each other despite adverse situations. It is the story of two people who understand the importance of family, relationships and empathy. And it is the story of two beautiful people who believed in each other beyond any boundary, with immense love for each other, that gave them the courage and strength to go past the emotional bumps and insecurities.

Melanie Shawn does a fabulous job of drawing out the contrasting depths of various relationships. Relationships are bonded with heart and not just blood. And when you have your heart in the right place, adverse situations can make you very strong. With love, support and compassionate friends, Jace and Cat welcome their new life with Gavin – a perfect beginning of a new life!
