Super short novella yet very captivating and intense, “Enticed By Blood” will keep you entertained and hooked and Laurie London sure can keep her readers enthralled with her short novellas or her regular length books. She is another cool paranormal writer and I enjoy her books a lot.

This is part of the Sweet Blood Vampire Series and was originally published in the Mammoth Book Of Southern Gothic Romance.

I’m very picky where paranormal genre is concerned. It took me a long time to initiate myself to read this genre and even now I just have a handful of authors who I read paranormal, and do not venture out. So it is a welcome change to read a brand new author Savanna Welles, and her upcoming book “The Moon Tells Secrets” asked to review by St. Martin’s Press, and I have to admit I was a little skeptical. But it turned out to be an interesting read after all.

Raine is on a constant run along with her 11-year old son, Davey who’s bestowed with the ‘gift’ of shifting, passed on from generations to generations. And now an evil form to eliminate competition and gain territorial rights as per legend is hunting them. Raine ends up with a distant cousin Luna who is aware of what is happening and what may happen. With no choice but to trust Luna, Raine agrees to settle down until things become a little quiet.

TheMoonTellsSecrets-SavannaWelles-Mar2015

Cade is a teacher and mourning the gruesome death of his wife. As Luna’s neighbor, they have a deep sibling and supportive bond that keeps Cade sane from losing himself to his grief. Fate brings him into contact with Raine that sparks attraction and hope that they may make a future together. As he starts tutoring Davey, he comes to know the truth about Davey and wows to protect them. Cade may be Raine’s only salvation, yet the fear of the unknown and that it may harm Cade burdens her with guilt and she makes a decision to leave him and Cade has to come to grips with the truth that his wife’s murder is connected to Davey and Raine.

If you were looking for a gritty, nail biting, and edge-of-the-seat paranormal, then you would be disappointed. But if you want an interesting narration of a family facing distress and trying to accept the ‘gift’ that is creating havoc in their personal lives, then “The Moon Tells Secrets” is just right for you.

Narrated from Raine and Cade’s point of view, Savanna Welles did a very fine job of weaving a story around paranormal, yet keeping it normal. There is no dearth of emotions, sublime passion and the absolute terror that this family goes through as they try to make a normal life. It will keep you captivated, you will feel for their horror and sadness of being targeted, and you will rejoice in their small moments of happiness.

“The Moon Tells Secrets” is a definite magnetic read that will take you on a journey of some amazing legendary stories and keep you reading until the very end.

The saga of the dragons and the darkness that they tend to live with continues in Katie Reus’s Darkness Series with “Beyond The Darkness”, another intense and passionate love story as Keelin tries to stay away from mating the sexy and alpha demon Bran Devlin.

Coming out of a forced hibernation spanning centuries, Keelin Petronilla has a lot of catching up to do with the changes in the society. Wanting to guard this precious freedom, she moves away from her clan to stay with the wolf pack under Stravos leadership. Tending bar for a half demon-god, new friends and a lifestyle on her own terms is what she loves and woes never to be controlled by anyone, be it the alpha Bran Devlin.

BeyondDarkness-Darkness3

Former special-ops, Bran Devlin is the leader of a powerful dragon pack, and his search for the evil targeting young female demons brings him to the Stravos community as well as reunites him with his intended mate Keelin. A mate who refuses to give up her freedom, yet wants to test the boundaries of the passion that sparks between them, on her own terms.

Her characters are created with brilliant clarity of courage and personality, loyal and honest, independent and commanding and charismatic and magnetic.

New author and her new series! Stacy McKitrick and her Ghostly Encounters!!!! And what an entertaining start it is for her series with her first book “Ghostly Liaison”.

Charlie is dead and leaves her home to her brother Rob, except that Charlie suddenly realizes that she is stuck between the worlds of life and death and there’s absolutely no one to help her. Rob on the other hand is busy trying to keep his inherited construction business running and has no time to fix his sister’s house to be sold, and neither does he have time to pay attention to the weird happenings in that house, as recited by Charlie’s neighbor.

GhostlyLiaison-GhostlyEncounters1-StacyMcKitirck-Jan2015

Enters Bridget with a determination to make her life independent of her parents and a past that had left way too many scars to forget and move on. And as if the pain and trauma of her past is not enough, people, of the ghostly kind, now dog her. A chance encounter with Rob lands Bridget in Charlie’s house as the house sitter. And of course Charlie is just ecstatic that Bridget can see, talk and feel her and Bridget is her only hope to get to the bottom of her death.

As sad as it is that Charlie is dead, this is just such an entertaining story. Reminds me Casper, the warm and friendly ghost trying to do the right thing and make the best of the situation. As Bridget tries to help Charlie, Rob slowly starts falling in love with Bridget, and things sure take a deadly turn before they get better.

To be honest, I had no expectations of the book, but the story went beyond my expectations. It was one of the most engaging and delightful reads of a new author I’ve read in recent times. Charlie as the ghost was just sassy, hilarious and frustrating. Rob as the ever-protecting guy totally smitten by Bridget, and coming to terms with the death of his sister, was just a great lovable guy. And Bridget, with her dainty demeanor is one brave lady trying to help the ones only she can see, as well as tenacious to get to the bottom of the truth.

“Ghostly Liaison” is a surprise package of love and understanding, an engaging read of humor and wit, an emotional ride of pain and guilt, and an appealing journey of two people trying to find their way to each other with the blessings of the resident ghost.

The saga of the Sentinels and their eternal protection continues in Alexandra Ivy’s second in the series, “Blood Assassin”. Fane had made an impressive impact as the guardian of Callie in “Born In Blood” and after handing off her and the special bond they shared to Duncan, Fane is ready to head back to Tibet for some down time. But then fate throws a wrench in his plans, when the love of his life disappears.

BloodAssassin-Sentinals2-AlexandraIvy-Dec2014

Not just a powerful psychic, Serra is a rare telepath who can connect to minds with objects and helping to find missing children is her specialty and weakness. A weakness exploited by a high-blood and Serra ends up in St. Louis via a spell to help Bas, a powerful assassin find his kidnapped daughter.

Fane is on the prowl as Serra’s guardian, and would lay his life for Serra. And Serra is racing against time to find the little girl so her life can be safe. Amidst danger and betrayal, revenge and retribution, sizzling chemistry and passionate love, Serra and Fane finally consummate their feelings for each other, for a future with each, if they can ever survive the danger they landed in.

Alexandra Ivy does another brilliant job of etching Serra and Fane, who are fast becoming my favorites. There is so much love and tenderness between them; you just can’t help loving them. Despite the danger they are in, their relationship just oozes charm, charisma and warmth. And the hint of sparks between Wolfe and Mave is something that I am waiting for Alexandra Ivy to bring to fruition. And I hope there is a closure for Bas and his story.

I’ve always loved the way Ivy gives importance to small details, the explanations of situations, the various chapters of history of the Sentinels and Norms, the layers of foundation of Valhalla, and the dynamics of various relationships among them. It is a fascinating exploration of the paranormal, beyond the imaginations of the norm, and a fulfilling experience of reading the story of each of the Sentinels and the woman they are destined to have in life.
