I’m very picky where paranormal genre is concerned. It took me a long time to initiate myself to read this genre and even now I just have a handful of authors who I read paranormal, and do not venture out. So it is a welcome change to read a brand new author Savanna Welles, and her upcoming book “The Moon Tells Secrets” asked to review by St. Martin’s Press, and I have to admit I was a little skeptical. But it turned out to be an interesting read after all.

Raine is on a constant run along with her 11-year old son, Davey who’s bestowed with the ‘gift’ of shifting, passed on from generations to generations. And now an evil form to eliminate competition and gain territorial rights as per legend is hunting them. Raine ends up with a distant cousin Luna who is aware of what is happening and what may happen. With no choice but to trust Luna, Raine agrees to settle down until things become a little quiet.

TheMoonTellsSecrets-SavannaWelles-Mar2015

Cade is a teacher and mourning the gruesome death of his wife. As Luna’s neighbor, they have a deep sibling and supportive bond that keeps Cade sane from losing himself to his grief. Fate brings him into contact with Raine that sparks attraction and hope that they may make a future together. As he starts tutoring Davey, he comes to know the truth about Davey and wows to protect them. Cade may be Raine’s only salvation, yet the fear of the unknown and that it may harm Cade burdens her with guilt and she makes a decision to leave him and Cade has to come to grips with the truth that his wife’s murder is connected to Davey and Raine.

If you were looking for a gritty, nail biting, and edge-of-the-seat paranormal, then you would be disappointed. But if you want an interesting narration of a family facing distress and trying to accept the ‘gift’ that is creating havoc in their personal lives, then “The Moon Tells Secrets” is just right for you.

Narrated from Raine and Cade’s point of view, Savanna Welles did a very fine job of weaving a story around paranormal, yet keeping it normal. There is no dearth of emotions, sublime passion and the absolute terror that this family goes through as they try to make a normal life. It will keep you captivated, you will feel for their horror and sadness of being targeted, and you will rejoice in their small moments of happiness.

“The Moon Tells Secrets” is a definite magnetic read that will take you on a journey of some amazing legendary stories and keep you reading until the very end.

As a reader (and reviewer), a good book for me is the one that pulls at my heartstrings, makes me shed a few tears, makes my heart heavy with the pain of the protagonists, pulls my lips into smiles and laughter at their wit and gives me goose bumps as I become a part of their passionate love story to a future. And as reader it is very rare for me to get captivated by a new author on my list, yet Laura Trentham does the very same with her “Slow And Steady Rush” (Falcon Football Series).

SlowAndSteadyRush-FalconFootball-LauraTrenthamMar2015

Darcy Wilde takes a sabbatical as a librarian, and comes home to Falcon to take care of her injured grandmother Ada. Independent and confident, witty and sassy, lovable and warm, coming back to Falcon brings back memories of a past that she desperately wants to forget; a past that puts her wayward mother out of her site and the turmoil that motivated her to become the successful woman of the present…. and right into the path of the new coach Robbie Dalton.

Making Falcon as a safe haven was important to Coach Dalton as making sure the young students of his football team stay out of trouble. Bounced around in foster care and making a life out of an abused childhood is something that puts Robbie on the edge and skeptical of forming relationships. Being an ex-ranger has channeled his anger into protecting his country, but being an orphan and the thirst for being loved by someone seems to be unquenchable.

But Darcy Wilde puts wild thoughts into his brain, and crack opens that heart he’s been guarding with his life. And what starts off as a fling, Darcy ends up losing her heart to the bruised Coach. Both Darcy and Robbie have plenty of pain and hurt to get past before they can make a future.

Laura Trentham, slowly but very steadily pulls her readers into this brilliant story of family and love, passion and lust, support and friendship. She’s done a fine job of making Darcy and Robbie as two individuals so right for each other. Supporting cast is amazing and she leaves no stone unturned to makes us shed a tear or two for the unconditional love that runs in the family and for the family and childhood lost.

A definite five star read for me and am looking forward to Logan finding his own happily ever after.

Shiloh Walker creates some brilliantly dark and obsessive romantic thrillers that set her readers on the edge with suspense and danger. Secrets & Shadows Series is a saga of people embroiled in an evil that spans generations in the tiny town of Madison; a town that is steeped in secrets and evil hiding in plain sight.

The third book in the series of Secrets and Shadows may very well put to rest the evil and the legacy of abuse that has been a part of Madison for generations. “Darker Than Desire” is a magnetic story of David Sutter (aka Caine Yoder), a man so tormented by an abusive past, that he can’t let the light of love into his heart. Dangerous and hard, David Sutter fears that the legacy of his past is flowing in his veins to accept or embrace the support and love that Sybil Chalmers has been offering for the past ten years.

DarkerThanDesire-SecretsShadows3-ShilohWalker-Mar2015

Raising her nephew and keeping him away from her drug addict sister, Sybil Chalmers is sassy, courageous and one kick-ass lady who can brave any hardship that gets thrown in her face. Loving David for the past ten years, and giving her heart away to him, sure puts her in the way of heartbreak, and David’s past leads her right into the crosshairs of an obsessive killer hell bent on claiming David.

As the evil closes in on him and the residents of Madison, it is left to David to make a decision whether to give up his relationship with Sybil for his past or be strong enough to stay with Sybil and once and for all, put an end to the legacy and evil that’s been haunting Madison and harming the people he’s come to care about.

“Darker Than Desire” is by far the most intense and emotional book of the series, in my opinion. Shiloh Walker did a magnificent job of creating David Sutter, with so much depth and torment that hurts you to the core. His pain is your pain, and his anguish is your anguish. And Sybil is one strong and tenacious lady who fights for her love in the face of danger. Being the voice of reason, her character is created to perfection and the perfect balance to David’s dynamics.

Dark, Intense, Dangerous, Spellbinding and Passionate!!!

Sometimes titles make a big difference. They can be catchy enough to draw attention, yet the stories can be disappointing. But with Melanie Scott, it’s just the opposite. Her first book in her NY Saints Series of three friends, “Devil In Denim” is what caught my attention, and I totally fell in love with Alex Winters and Maggie Jameson and Melanie Scott’s books!!!

AngelInArmani2-MelanieScott-Dec2014

“Angel In Armani” brings together Sara Charles and Lucas Angelo in the skies of New York, on the wings of a halo, in the depths of a passionate storm. Sara Charles is trying to salvage her father’s charter business Charles Air, and needs a miracle to help her. Lucas Angelo is a renowned orthopedic surgeon, as well as the co-owner of the NY Saints Baseball team along with his friends Alex and Malachi.

Repeated encounters in the air, and a lasting one night fiery passion, gives Lucas the perfect opportunity to hire Sara as the team’s private pilot and it gives Sara a chance to recoup her finances and salvage her father’s business. And it gives a perfect opening for Lucas and Sara to explore those sparks between them leading to an inferno of passion and love.

Sara and Lucas are two endearing independent individuals, fighting personal demons, yet trying to make a life together. Lucas is ultra protective of Sara and wants to give her the world of comfort and love, and Sara with her own insecurities tries very hard to fit into Lucas’s world of fame and paparazzi.

Melanie Scott does a fine job with Lucas and Sara, both strong and stubborn, yet smart enough to figure out the love that has been bestowed on them, with a wonderful loop of support from friends and some family. Angel In Armani is witty, lovable, graceful and just perfect for the belief in warm feelings and happy endings.

Each book can be read as a stand-alone….do not miss the first in the series “Devil In Denim”.

The battle between good and evil, human and demon is a never-ending war waged for centuries and shall continue into the future with destructive consequences, as power and control take precedence over everything. And as history shows, for every act of evil, there will be reacting to maintain the balance and for every demon that steps on an innocent, there will be a protector to mete out justice.

Donna Grant’s latest in her Dark Kings paranormal dragon saga “Hot Blooded”, brings Laith, a Dragon King face to face with Iona Campbell, daughter of the caretaker of the vast lands that safeguard the secrets of the Dreagan Industries. Estranged from her father for twenty years, photojournalist Iona makes the decision to reunite with her father in Scotland, but unfortunately ends up coming to his funeral instead. Strange things seem to happen as the beauty of the vast lands hide secrets that put her life in danger and test her integrity, loyalty and intelligence.

HotBlooded2-DonnaGrant-Dec2014

Guarded by the Campbell estates, the Dreagen Industries nestle the Dragon Kings and their kingdom, as they man the vast skies protecting the innocent and taking care of their own. Laith, as one of the Dragon Kings and protector, is drawn to Iona at first sight. The attraction between them kindles a passion that cannot be ignored, even as danger surrounds Iona, and Laith puts all his magical resources and allies to defend Iona and his kingdom.

HotBlooded3-DonnaGrant-Dec2014

Hot Blooded is another brilliant story, further taking the readers on a ride of passion, secrets and betrayal. For new readers, this book can be read as a stand-alone, and can be a good start, as it gives a detailed description into the history of the paranormal dynamics of the Dragon Kings, Warriors, Fae and others, and the ensuing war. And as Laith unveils the secrets of the Campbell lands and the Dreagen Industries to Iona, he puts himself and his love at risk.

HotBlooded4-DonnaGrant-Dec2014

Another passionate “Dark Kings” story by the fabulous Donna Grant, of a Dragon King finding his mate, a brilliant continuation of the Dragon King saga as it chronicles the past bringing us with the current, a thrilling ride of a mortal with her Dragon King, as he takes her on a fiery ride high above the skies, and an evil that is lurking in the shadows, biding it’s time, waiting for the perfect time to strike.
