Lindsay McKenna is one of the best military romance writers that I’ve come across and some of her books are immensely memorable and have revisited numerous times. Along with badass soldiers, she also writes some great badass cowboy stories.

Book 2 in the Wind River Valley series, “Wind River Rancher” is so much more emotional, heartfelt and there’s that sublime romance that added so much depth to the story. Discharged from the army due to PTSD, once a commanding officer, Reece Lockhart is on the streets, with no home or food. Arriving at Jackson Hole and hoping to find a job may very well be his last attempt to survive and Shaylene is his final hope.

Army veteran Shaylene Crawford is no stranger to the trauma of the war and her Bar C ranch is her final salvation and her dream to make it a place where vets can slowly heal and make a life for themselves. Keeping her own personal issues at bay, she is literally an anger trying to keep the faith and give hope to the ones who have been disowned by the very country they had laid their lives for.

This was one emotional story of despair and trauma, support, compassion and empathy that gives these brave vets hope and faith that all is not lost in their fight to survive after war. This story is a testimony to the fact that there are people out there who care about others and who are willing to give unconditionally.

I loved this story more than her first one in the series. Lindsay McKenna gave more depth to Reese and Shay, developed their relationship with great insight as they battle through fears and insecurities, the care and support of the people around that gave strength to the entire premise of the story and the kindness and generosity that does exist to give back to the brave men and women.

Lindsay McKenna did a brilliant job weaving a love story around Reese and Shay as they look out for each other, rely on each other and finally find love that binds them with a common goal and solidarity.

“Wind River Rancher” will definitely hit right at the center of the heart.

Book two of her BOSS INC Series; “Into The Whirlwind” brings Megan O’Brian back to Dirk Reynolds, for his help in getting back her kidnapped son. They had been together when Dirk was one of the bodyguards protecting the lingerie models, but circumstances forces Megan to separate herself from Dirk. And what a sweet and torturous reunion it is. So many unanswered questions, so many emotions and a past that bound them with passion and love.

As they try to get to the bottom of the kidnapping, Dirk and Megan rekindle their love that never died and reconcile their different backgrounds as they race against time to save her son. With Megan getting into the crossfire of some powerful mafia, keeping her safe is Dirk’s only mission.

Here is another whirlwind of a story, dangerous and deadly, passionate and heart warming, captivating and sensual. From “The Raines Of Wind Canyon” to “The Brodies” to “Boss Inc.”, Kat Martin has created amazing characters fighting for justice and protecting the loved ones in their lives. As each series progressed into the next one, I enjoyed every page of these brothers in arms to their extended cousins and friends.

windriverwrangler-windrivervalley1-oct2016

Having said that, her new series Wind River Valley starts off really slow and remains slow. First in the series, “Wind River Wrangler” Roan Taggart meets city girl/romance writer Shiloh Gallagher as she comes to Wyoming to get away from a stalker and lay low until the danger passes.

With a past trauma that haunts her night day, Shiloh is not one to trust easy, yet she feels safe and protected as Roan guides her under the vast skies of Wyoming, helping and giving her confidence to rebuild her life.

It’s a nice plot and all, but there’s too much internal dialogue and I have to be honest I skimmed pages to get to the interesting part. The characters were not bad, although I really couldn’t get close to them or feel them in my heart. I guess Lindsay wanted to give more attention to romance versus action and danger, but the narration was slow. All in all its’ an okay read. And the cover is gorgeous!!!!

Rebecca Zanetti writes some wickedly sexy paranormal and sci-fi stories that keep our adrenaline flowing, with spine chilling confrontations and passionate and lustful encounters that melt even the ice-cold glaciers!

WickedEdge-RealmEnforcers#2-RebeccaZanetti-Nov2015

Book two in the Realm Enforcers,“Wicked Edge” puts Daire Dunne in the cross hairs of beauty and danger. As the enforcer of the Coven Nine he has his job cut out for him, but nothing prepares him for the drugged lust and attraction he feels for the sexy Cee Cee, little knowing that this is one dangerous lady on a mission.

Cee Cee finally has the intel to avenge the death of her family. With the people responsible for the death of her husband in sight, she has no time for the alpha Daire or his rules. But a lady gotta do what she’s gotta do to reach her goal as she kicks ass and Daire is one unhappy enforcer left woozy!. Circumstances put them in each other’s company to protect Cee Cee and keep her safe as he supports her in her mission.

And what we get is another action packed story as Rebecca Zanetti takes her readers on a ride of danger, death, betrayal and love. It amazes me the plot that she comes up to keep her readers captivated and have them at the edge of their seats! And it is no easy task to keep a series going with the same momentum and passion!

“Finding Hope” was the first book of Stacy Finz I’ve read and I really liked it for her portrayal of loss, hope and second chances. Now “Going Home” is another love story set in the little town of Nugget. CA.

Nothing prepares him for the shocking revelation of stepsiblings that come to live with him, and add in the presence of his beautiful neighbor, he’s on the road to falling head over heels in love and with the idea of having a family.

Leaving behind a past of betrayal and a husband who is in love with another woman, Maddy Breyer hopes to start fresh in the charming town of Nugget, restoring an old mansion into a bed and breakfast. With lot of resistance from the town people and family drama next door, Maddy falls for the detective and becomes more than a neighbor.
