The little town of Solitude doesn’t seem to get a break where crime is concerned, and death doesn’t seem to give enough of a break to Zane Duncan and Stevie Taylor to recite their vows and finally tie the knot.

deathandherdevotion-roguevows1-oct2016

The death of a hot shot TV star Chase Ryan throws Zane and Stevie into a whirlwind of danger as things literally heat up burning down their wedding preparations. With the usual suspects being questioned and the unusual suspects stringing the law enforcement along the path of death, Stevie has second thoughts about getting married giving Zane sleepless nights.

As a continuation of the Rogue River series, “Death And Her Devotion” is the first in the Rogue Vows co-written by Kendra Elliot and Melinda Leigh. And as always it’s wonderful to visit the remote town of Solitude as the characters progress in their lives trying to balance personal and professional life. Kendra does a fine job connecting the past and the present, and giving us a novella that keeps the thrill, suspense and subtle romance going…and ending the story for Melinda to kick-start her novella….

For the uninitiated or new readers, this series would be a great start to get to know two wonderful authors/writers. And you would be tempted to read the Rogue River Series where all the suspense, evil, death and romance started.

Book three in the Scarlet Falls Series by Melinda Leigh, brings Mac Barrett from the drug infested and bullet ridden Amazon jungles to his hometown of Scarlet Falls, as his father breathes his last. Even as his family buries the Colonel, the little town of Scarlet Falls is once again thrown into a gruesome murder. And that takes Mac right to Stella Dane, and his heart has never forgotten the detective.

Taking the lead on the murder investigation, stakes are high for Stella as she races against time with her partner McNamara to stop a psychotic killer. As the killer targets reformed drug addicts, he comes too close to home as her friend is kidnapped and Mac gets into the crosshairs of the killer. With time running out and life hanging by mere seconds, it takes all of Stella’s skills and the support of her department to save the people she cares the most.

SecondsToLive-ScarletFalls#3

Mac has been my favorite Barrett sibling with is quite and lethal demeanor. Working for the DEA undercover has given him a hard edge, yet Stella is the only one who can calm him and his heart. Stella had always had a special place for Mac and working together to catch the killer only reinforces the love she has for him. Strong, independent and a good heart is what Stella is made of as she goes through her own demons of guilt and pain.

Two strong individuals, two people with painful pasts and two protectors who would go to any length to keep their families safe, Mac and Stella make one amazing couple.

I loved the way Melinda Leigh incorporated the plot around a mad killer and yet not lose sight of the dynamics of the Barrett family. Regrets, redemptions and secrets are out in the open, as Melinda brings the family together, with care, love and support. She does a brilliant job of giving the story the co-existence of danger and presence of a strong family that had been through loss, pain and betrayal.

“Seconds To Live” can be read as a stand-alone, but I would highly recommend readers to start with “Hour Of Need” (where it all started), to enjoy the following books to the fullest

Christmas in Solitude, Oregon wakes up to the death of a young woman, dragging Sheriff Zane Duncan and his girlfriend/detective Stevie Taylor out into the cold winter of evil and secrets.

DeadInHerTracks-RogueWinterNovella2

Connecting from the death in the first Rogue Winter Novella, “Tracks Of Her Tears”, Zane and Stevie are thrown right into the path of a serial killer, who’s practicing his skill of killing until her gets to his ultimate goal Stevie. People are not what they seem to be and things are not what they are led to be believed. With drugs making its rounds in Solitude, Zane and Stevie have to put their best foot forward to keep Solitude safe.

Co-written by the author duo Kendra Elliot and Melinda Leigh, the Rogue Winter novellas are short and quick reads that keep the readers captivated and interested. I love the little details of humor and everyday life that Kendra injects into the gripping tale as we revisit Zane and Stevie. It’s nice to reconnect with some lovable characters as they try to live a normal life amidst evil and danger.

For the uninitiated or new readers, this series would be a great start to get to know two wonderful authors/writers. And you would be tempted to read the Rogue River Series where all the suspense, evil, death and romance started.

Solitude, Oregon has been in solitude too long, and so why not just stir up some evil, betrayal and death. The Rogue Winter Novellas start off with Melinda Leigh taking us back to Solitude and the people fighting for justice and protecting the innocent.

TracksOfHerTears-RogueWinter1-MelindaLeigh

We have left Solitude as Seth and Carly finally accept that they love each other too much to put an end to their marriage. As they work out the kinks in this second lease of their relationship, the death of Carly’s brother’s girlfriend tests their fragile bond. Seth is determined to bring justice to the dead and Carly gives her everything to keep the orphaned baby safe and secure.

Co-written by the author duo Melinda Leigh and Kendra Elliot, the Rogue Winter novellas get off to deathly winter start. It’s always wonderful to re-visit characters from the previous stories to see their continuation after HEAs. And it’s absolutely fabulous to read romantic suspense written by Melinda.

Short and quick, captivating and arresting, “Tracks Of Her Tears” is a fast read of suspense and romance, love and relationships, support and solidarity.

For the uninitiated or new readers, this series would be a great start to get to know two wonderful authors/writers.

All it takes is “Minutes To Kill”, minutes for a situation to become deadly, minutes to become a witness from an innocent bystander and just minutes to become a target to be killed.

The second book in the Scarlet Falls Series by Melinda Leigh brings corporate attorney Hannah Barrett back home to Scarlet Falls with a killer right behind her heels. What was supposed to be a few days of vacation for Hannah turn into a nightmare with two killer brothers hell bent on seeing her dead for trying to help a teenager from being forced into sex trade.

MinutesToKill-ScarletFalls2

A cry for help from the very same girl she wasn’t able to help, brings her face to face with Detective Brody McNamara, her attraction, her apprehension and her lust. Having helped her family when her brother and sister-in-law were murdered, Brody has become a trusted member of the Barrett family. And seeing Hannah only brings out the spark, the respect and love he has for her and with killers on the spree in Scarlet Falls, he would do anything to keep Hannah and her family safe and protected.

I love the simplicity of the story, as a small incident becomes a threat to an innocent civilian. It could happen to anyone, and the repercussions of the incident bring out the strong dimensions of family support. It becomes a foundation to face some insecurity, overcome a few fears, and in the process become a stronger individual.

Melinda Leigh continues the saga of the Barrett Family in Scarlet Falls, as they try to come back as one unit to deal with the aftermath of the murder of their sibling and an ailing father with dementia. She does a brilliant job of giving the story the co-existence of danger and presence of family bond. The romance between Brody and Hannah is sublime and is a perfect pen as is the characterization of Brody and Hannah. Two strong individuals, independent yet dependent on each other, with strong belief of justice and family, Brody and Hannah will win the hearts of the readers.
