The third in the McBride Series, “Dylan’s Redemption” is another brilliant creation from Jennifer Ryan. A story of young love gone awry, of lost relations and evil close to home, of second chances and putting to rest the ghosts of a past that had changed lives and causes so much pain and anguish, and of finding love that was meant to be for a future filled with faith and trust.

Dylan McBride and Jessica Thompson had one starry night on their prom day and circumstances take Dylan away from Fallbrook. Jessica ends up pregnant and as her alcoholic father tries to kill her, she escapes without a trace. Everyone assumes she was killed by her father and buried in a place unknown.

Dylan never stopped looking for Jessie and eight years later, returns to Fallbrook as the county Sheriff and hoping to get some answers to Jessie’s disappearance. Jessie’s father dies of a heart attack and she returns to Fallbrook to settle her father’s affairs and finally lay to rest the torment he had caused. Dylan is flabbergasted that Jessie is still alive and he has a daunting task of making sure Jessie understands and believes him that he had never meant to abandon her.

The past comes colliding with the present, bringing fresh pain and hurt. Dylan’s family plays a part in their separation and the pain of losing something very precious for Jessie. Jessie is one strong woman, who with tunnel focus and grit, rises above her loss and builds a successful career in the construction industry, and she was never far from Fallbrook either. Now it is left for Dylan and Jessie to put a closure to their painful past and see if they can make a future together.

Jennifer Ryan writes stories involving some very strong women, and I love her for doing so. She portrays women of great strength and courage who overcome dire circumstances and make a life for them. After Jenna in her first book of her Hunted Series, Jessie is my favorite, with her sheer determination, courage and tremendous focus, to make a second life for her.

There are lot of scenes in the story that brought tears to my eyes and tugs at your heartstrings. Dylan’s Redemption makes you angry towards the ones causing pain, makes you shed tears as Dylan and Jessica talk of their past and what they have lost, makes you happy for them as they try to make a new life, and makes you believe that there are good people left in the world.

Hope, Will and Faith – fabulous symbolism!

Loss, trauma and pain sometimes create the most beautiful of music and sometimes real life events and experiences give birth to some amazing stories of compassion, grit, will power along with the unconditional love and support of families and friends, as they stand behind their loved ones.

In the latest release of the Kelly Brothers Series, “A Seductive Melody”, Crista McHugh takes us on a journey with Ethan Kelly, the musician of the Kelly family. Ethan loses his best friend to drugs and his ability to make music, and as a last-ditch effort to save his life from the vice, goes into rehab. His journey of sobriety is not easy and he goes through pangs of pain and depravation. His only ally in this fight to stay alive is Rebecca Shores. Can he trust her with his second lease of life?

Rebecca Shores is a recovering addict, a far cry from the life of the socialite she had lived and was unsuccessful in pleasing her father. She works for a magazine waiting for that one chance to make a name for her. She ends up being Ethan’s sponsor. And right here she has the story of her career, to take her into the big leagues as she comes to know Ethan’s true identity. Can she betray Ethan’s trust?

Together they go through the turbulent times of substance depravation, anonymous meetings and temptations that may take them over the ledge of no recovery. With Becca’s unrelenting support and will power, Ethan manages to stay away from cravings and slowly starts writing music on his own. Becca on the other hand with Ethan’s support, goes through the pain of dealing with her father and their past. Crista did a brilliant job of writing Ethan and Becca.

I loved how Crista incorporated her experiences through her profession in real life and what drug addicts go through. It not only changes their lives, but also the lives of the ones around them. She also gives us a glimpse of how the people react to addicts and recovering addicts, whether it is family or strangers. She teaches us that, it takes courage, will power and compassion to overcome addiction, and it takes a whole lot than just going to a few meetings.

Another impressive and inspiring story from Crista McHugh, a definite read!

I’ve always enjoyed reading the “Mine Series” by Cynthia Eden, and her new addition to the series, “Mine To Have” is no exception. With a lot of twists and surprising revelations, Cynthia does an amazing job of bringing the past into the current to a new future, all the while holding a tight grip on the storyline, and does not even falter for a second.

Saxon Black has been working undercover for years for the FBI, and it reaches a point where he forgets who the real Saxon Black is. His final assignment before he quits the world of undercover is to rescue a hostage and wash off his hands and walk away to a new life waiting for him.

Easier said than done! Saxon barges in to save Elizabeth Ward and ends up with feelings he’s forgotten he had. Elizabeth Ward has no idea there is a contract out on her head, and that she should have been dead along with her parents, a couple of years ago.

The danger and the adrenaline keep Saxon and Elizabeth in close proximity and they end up falling for each other and saving each other’s lives. One of the reason I love Cynthia Eden’s writings is that no matter how short or long her books, she always manages to create a good character sketch. She tends introduce them in the previous books and we get a glimpse of what’s coming ahead and already have a rough outline of their personalities. I, for one love that it adds more depth and individuality to her characters

Mine To Have is a rollercoaster ride of betrayal within the law enforcement; secrets buried deep and the true identity of Elizabeth Ward. It is a passionate ride of lust and love, possession and jealousy and evil and good. Mine To Have (and Mine Series) are stories of relationships built through hearts, friendships cemented with unconditional trust and protecting families and their own with every breath of their beings.

I like when writers test the boundaries of their creativity. Venturing into areas they may not be sure yet brave enough to test the waters. Something for readers to be receptive to their favorite authors and enjoy the shades of their writings.

Carly Phillip did warn her readers as she “Dared To Submit” her fourth book in The Dare Series, with BDSM elements and it rolled off with a flourish. It was erotic, sensual and sizzling, but in no way offensive, crude or abusive. In fact it gave the characters a depth of enrichment and an aura of completeness.

Decklan Dare is the cousin from the NY side of the Dare family and brother of Gabe Dare (Dare To Surrender). A NY cop, Decklan thrives on control of his life and emotions. He understands the loss of loved ones, and does not want to ever lose himself to emotions of pain, hurt and betrayal, ever. As much as he is a dominant, he has a heart of gold and never would hurt a single soul. Compassionate, protective and all alpha, he falls for Amanda and her vulnerability.

Amanda Collins takes one look at Decklan in a BDSM club and knew she was in serious trouble. Not into relationships, she gets off her urges under the disguise of submissive role-playing. Holding a great job as an assistant to her best friend in Washington who happens to be gay and role-playing as his girlfriend for public appearances, she takes on Decklan with no strings attached.

But love finds a way through their hearts and before long, they fall in love with each other, yet not confessing to their feelings and skirting around any commitment. Carly did a fabulous job of portraying Decklan and Amanda with their insecurities and hang-ups. With sizzling chemistry between them, Dare to Submit is a passionate ride of testing sexual boundaries, tenderness and love, support and commitment. It’s a Carly Phillips story of humor, charm and wit, with a healthy dose of carnal sensuality.

What an amazing story of pain, loss, courage and an evil that goes beyond monstrous!!!!

A chance request for “Dead Don’t Lie” by L.R. Nicolello via Netgalley, took me on a ride of anguish for the loss of loved ones, courage and grit to overcome a past and channel fears to help victims, and a patient love that gave unconditional support and strength through despair and havoc as a demon wages a war on innocent families.

Detective Evelyn Davis, beats the nightmares and pain of losing her family to a monster fifteen years ago, and becomes a much sought after psychological profiler with the Seattle PD. Her partner Ryan and his family are her adopted family from the time she pairs with him, and she loves them to death and would take a bullet without a second thought.

DeadDontLie-LRNicolelo-Sept2014

A murderer is on the rampage killing families with a rage that defies sanity and Evelyn and Ryan are brought into the case as lead detectives to catch the murderer. Special Agent Marcus Moretti comes into the picture, as he wants Evelyn to be a part of his special ops team in the FBI. He falls for Evelyn’s courage and passion for justice and her drive to give the families of tragedies the closure that she never got. The murderer gets too close to her and her family and she realizes that this could be connected with the murder of her family fifteen years ago.

L.R. Nicolello does a fabulous job writing Evelyn as the strong, smart and courageous woman who breathes justice with a passion. Evelyn is one of the most admirable women I’ve come across and she stole my heart. Marcus is an amazingly sensitive agent tuned into Evelyn and her fears. His support and encouragement of Evelyn when she hits rock bottom was so endearing and his protective instincts and fierce love for her makes Marcus one of the most genuine guys I’ve read.

Even though Marcus and Evelyn get their HEA, but the path to the end was one of an emotional roller coaster ride. I’ve never cried so much reading a section of the story when Evelyn finds herself become the guardian of a child. And the epilogue was one of the sweetest and the best ending to a couple who deserve nothing but happiness.

This is one of the best romantic suspense thrillers I’ve read in a while and I am in awe of Evelyn and Marcus – a wonderful couple so easy to fall in love with, to cry with and laugh with.
