Adding another new author to my list to be read again and again! In fact I went and bought a few of her books! I always get goose bumps every time I read a new author and end up loving them for repeat reads and a place in my library.

Vonnie Davis is a brand new author and her latest (and first for me), “Her Survivor” takes readers into the stories of the courageous and brave soldiers who guard us with their lives, and the aftermath of war and death. But let me assure that there is plenty of romance to warm the heart.

HerSurvivor-BlackEagleOps#1-VonnieDavis-Jul2016

Navy Seal Dustin Frank is recovering from the trauma of losing a leg and getting acclimated to a life that will just not be normal anymore, yet he needs to make it normal to survive. Heading to Eagle Ridge Ranch to surround with his army brothers to recuperate, never did he dream of a life that comes in the bookstore owner Kelcee Todd.

Inheriting the bookstore that she loves with all her heart, Kelcee Todd is all set to step into the next chapter of her life. Strong and independent, warm and compassionate, supportive and kind, Kelcee Todd has a lot to be grateful for and has a baggage of past to unload.

Together Kelcee and Dustin are at each other’s throats, together they set the sparks on fire and together they sizzle between the sheets, and together they have to overcome a danger from the past, if they want to have a chance at a future together.

Vonnie Davis does a brilliant job of caricaturing Dustin as the struggling war veteran, giving us an insight into the lives of these brave wounded soldiers, fighting the nightmares of death and tragedy, yet giving them hope as they cling to the support and warmth of friends and kind people. Kelcee Todd is a firecracker of a woman, going toe to toe with Dustin as his better half.

I thoroughly enjoyed getting to know Dustin and Kelcee, along with the supporting characters, and the thrill of looking forward to a new series as Vonnie Davis lays foundation to the Black Eagle Ops with the first book, “Her Survivor”.

Stacey Lynn is a first time read for me and I did find her book “His To Protect” interesting. I believe this is book two in her Fireside Series, bringing Katrina Wilson to the warmth and safety of Declan James.

HisToProtect-Fireside#2-StaceyLynn-July2016

Running from her powerful and abusive husband, Trina Wilson finds a place to rest to before she can plan her next move. Saving every penny and trying to feed Boomer, her only ally in this nightmare, she gets caught by Declan James and circumstances lead her to get a job at his restaurant.

Trying to keep the restaurant running that he and his wife had started, Declan is burning both ends of the candle after his wife leaves him. Trina coming into his life gives him a motivation and purpose to protect and love, and hope for a future that he had given up.

Interesting story as Declan and Trina get to know each other, with good supporting characters adding to the mix, “His To Protect” is a good read. There are a few occasions I felt the story dragged a bit and lost its grip, but overall it’s alright. Stacey did a good job with her characters and plot, but there’s definitely room for progression in her narration.

The Red Stone Security Series by Katie Reus seems to be expanding by leaps and bounds as we get to meet the extended members and their happily ever after. And I’m sure I had mentioned innumerable times that this series is one of my top favorites to-go-to-when-I-need-a-lift-kind of books, and I keep revisiting this series every time my heart craves some danger and romance all rolled into one.

DangerousProtector-RedStoneSecurity#14-KatieReus-July2016

Book 14 of the series, “Dangerous Protector” opens with an explosion bringing Aaron Fitzpatrick closer to Tegan O’Kelly as her protector. Having left a past best forgotten, Tegan finally places roots in Miami, but a past buried deep underground seems to have woken from the dead…literally! Someone wants Tegan dead, and Aaron is making sure that it never happens on his watch.

With circumstances keeping these two under one roof, it’s only a matter of time before they succumb to their attraction and let the desire blaze between the sheets. Two strong, independent and good individuals come together to face a deadly threat and come out strong as one.

Another captivating and short story revolving around Red Stone Security, “Dangerous Protector” is a quick and fast read, satisfying and fulfilling a readers thirst for danger, romance, lust and happy endings.

Short and Sweet! Irresistible and Endearing!! Lovable and Fuzzy!!! That’s “Sunset In Laguna” for you.

Part of the Kindle World Novellas, Melanie Shawn comes up with a sweet and sugary romance for the soul. With their amazing writing prowess, Melanie and Shawna weave a fairy tale romance around Griff Hudson and Cheyenne Burns in the picturesque Laguna Beach.

SunsetInLaguna-KindleWorlds-MelanieShawn-Jul2016

Cheyenne comes to Laguna Beach to find herself and her art that seems to have taken a sabbatical and rooming with the resident writer Griff Hudson may just be the muse that she seems to be missing. His first look of Cheyenne brings Griff almost to his knees as the bolts of attraction strike him dead center. Staying secluded to find overcome his writing block is no help, but sharing a cottage with Chey may just be the remedy and motivation to bring back his creativity.

The sister duo of Melanie and Shawna sure know how to pen novellas with enough charisma and sizzle, but not losing sight of the importance of characters and their individualities. With enough attention to emotions and the plot even for a novella, “Sunset In Laguna” is a charming and romantic read.

For the uninitiated, Samantha Chase started off her new series “The Shaughnessy Brothers” with “Made For Us” (Aidan and Zoe), “Love Walks In” (Hugh and Aubrey), and now the third Shaughnessy brother Quinn sure takes his own sweet time trying to come to grips as to what’s been staring in his face all this time.

AlwaysMyGirl-Shaughnessy#3-SamanthaChase-July2016

Quinn Shaughnessy will make you want to shake some sense into him, he can be an idiot where Anna is concerned, you want to smack him when he makes decisions for Anna and you want to love him for his heart made of gold. He sure made Anna Hannigan wait a few years before he finally comes to his sense and declares to the world that she’s “Always My Girl”.

Anna Hannigan, the ever-sweet girl of his who can never say no, always at his side rain or shine and friends of the heart, has literally pined for Quinn for her entire life. Coming out of her shell and trying to live life outside of Quinn doesn’t seem to work in her favor. And when they do finally become a couple, their relationship is not short of fireworks, as they try to navigate the transition from friends to lovers.

Like every love story, Quinn and Anna have a lot of baggage to shed, insecurities to overcome, and fears of failure to conquer. Again, Samantha Chase does a wonderful job of setting Quinn apart from his brothers, with his own characterization and individuality, his weaknesses and strengths and his equation with his Dad. And again she does a brilliant job of interweaving the dynamics of the Shaughnessys, as they stand together in support in their varied degrees.

“Always My Girl” is another wonderful story of love and care, support and strength, friendship and family, that not only gives us a warm romance, but also gives us an insight into different personalities and the dynamics of a large and caring family.
