Anna DeStefano is a first time read for me and “Shattered Witness” sure drew me into the story and the lives of Shaw Cassidy and Cole Marinos.

ShatteredWitness-AnnaDestaffano-Nov2014

Rich and successful Shaw Cassidy is the victim of a brutal attack leaving her traumatized and searching for memories lost. She retreats to her High Mountain Estate for recuperating, but nightmares and a feeling that she’s been watched every single minute haunt her.

FBI agent Cole Marinos is assigned the task of keeping an eye on Shaw as she is suspected of treason and Cole is trying to jog her memories so she can be exonerated. But dangerous events lead to Cole being implicated as well.

Cole and Shaw share a past that was shattered by her father and brother. A past in which Shaw and Cole were lovers, and now it looks like a stalker is hell bent in killing both before Shaw’s memories come back.

This is a fast paced action packed story, filled with thrills, danger and an evil that has no qualms of killing without emotion or remorse. Anna DeStefano definitely keeps the audience enthralled and captivated, page after page. The suspense is great, and you may get inkling as who the killer might be, but the details of the anticlimax are surprising enough.

A definite read and a definite re-visit of the author for her other books.

PS: This book was previously published as Her Forgotten Betrayal, and this edition has few editorial revisions

Here’s another outstanding series from Christy Reece’s sensational basket of LCR operatives. A spin off of her former LCR Series, “Running On Empty” is the first in the LCR Elite Series. For the uninitiated readers of Christy Reece, LCR Elite Series would be the perfect start to get to know her red-hot operatives and also get to visit the infamous ones from the original series.

Sabrina Fox and Declan Steele – outstanding operatives, partners in covert operations and significant others in life. Yet someone choreographs an outstanding operation, breaking them apart, sending Declan into the dungeons of torture and Sabrina into a vortex of anguish, until Noah McCall drops an olive branch to bring meaning back to life.

After been rescued, Declan has only one mission in life, and that is to get back at Sabrina for double-crossing him and breaking his heart into pieces. Even as he comes face to face with her, he cannot pull the trigger on her as he’s consumed with emotions of love and passion that have never ceased, in direct war with the pounding in his head that Sabrina was responsible for his capture and torture.

RunningOneEmpty-LCRElite-Sept2014

Circumstances put them together under the same roof and it is up to them to trust each other and find the mole in their life, responsible for their separation. And when Sabrina gets taken, Declan’s revenge turns into a race against time to save the one and only woman who stole his heart.

Yes…. there is plenty of action, yes…there is suspense and danger…and yes there is chemistry to top the charts, but what puts Christy Reece over and above is her brilliant characterization of people. Whether they are the primary or the secondary, every character is penned to detail and cloaked with their individual aura of persona. There is a history behind them, there is an identity behind them and there is spirit in them, and every character breathes an essence of their nature.

Christy Reece is on of those amazing writers, who nurture a good story with understanding and patience. She creates history behind every relationship and does not put any terms, conditions and expiration dates to relationships. Without losing the grip on the crux of the story, keeping the thrills and the frills at high levels, Christy does a fabulous job with Sabrina and Declan’s relationship, making our hearts cry for their pain and love…and this is what makes me fall for a book and a writer/author.

It looks like the town of Solitude, Oregon, may finally put the evil lurking in the dark to rest. “Walking On Her Grave” is the fourth installment, in the thrilling and suspenseful Rogue River Series, co-written by Kendra Elliot and Melinda Leigh.

With sleepy Solitude as Ground Zero for a new drug that is taking lives of prominent citizens of the town, Carly and Seth are caught in the crossfires of danger along with Stevie and Zane as they race against time to put an end to the manufacturers and the distributors.

WalkingOnHerGrove-RogueRiver4-Nov2014

A key teenage witness disappears, and Carly is thrown into danger as she tries to find the boy before he ends up dead. Seth wants to keep his wife away from harm’s way, but with everyone in the town been a suspect, its hard to trust or depend on anyone.

When Seth and Carly get too close to identifying the killer, Seth gets too close to death and Carly realizes she’s never stopped loving Seth and she can’t live without him in her life. Now they have to race against time to bring the killer to justice before Seth and Carly can get a second chance at making their marriage work, and keep their family together.

Walking On Her Grave gives a fitting end to the Rogue River Series. It is a brilliant compilation of four stories, as emotions and relationships are explored, trust and love is put to test, and loyalty and duty goes beyond normal.

For the uninitiated or new readers, this series would be a great start to get to know two wonderful authors/writers.

My Love…my love…my love…my love…keeps me warm!!!!

I don’t think there can ever be two people more polar opposites than Bobby Sloan and Sophie. Youngest of the Sloan boys, Bobby’s always been the quiet one, never saying much, but always supportive of his family. Love for his family puts his desires on the back burner, with no questions asked. But now the chance to be and become what he had always had a passion for, presents itself and he grabs it, with full encouragement from his family, and a news that he wants to surprise his wife with.

MyLove-CrossRoads-BobbySophie-Nov 2014

Sophie is the talkative, full of life wife that Bobby loves to the end of this earth. She is the lovable, animated woman that loves her husband with a passion and complements his quite demeanor. They are a perfect match made in heaven, leading an uncomplicated life with love, trust and unconditional support of each other. But now Sophie’s discovered some unexpected news, which would change the lives of everyone concerned.

Three years after marriage, and still feeling like newly weds, their love and passion is off the charts, with Bobby being vocal with action, and Sophie matching his desires act to act. But with big bolts of surprises coming in small doses, it’s up to them to accept this life altering change with love and understanding, and have enough faith in each other to overcome fears and doubts.

No matter how many times I read…re-read, the Crossroad Series is one of those quintessential compilation of stories I can never ever get tired of. And the Sloans and Harper’s Crossing are forever going to be etched as my top favorites.

A charming and nostalgic novella perfectly timed for the holidays!

Four writer friends, love and laughter, families and festivities, Christmas and miracles…a magical Christmas In New York!!!!

Christmas In New York series is the compilation by four writer friends and their wonderful stories of lost love, second chances, friendships and relationships and the magical wishes of Christmas that gives four friends a future of love, trust and understanding.

This Christmas (Jake and Sabrina) – Jeannie Moon

All I Want For Christmas (Cassandra and Sean) – Jennifer Gracen

A Light In The Window (Jade and Ben) – Jolyse Barnett

Goodness And Light (Elena and Lucas) – Patty Blount

And they all can be read standalone!

A LIGHT IN THE WINDOW – JOLYSE BARNETT

ALightInTheWindow-JolyseBarnett-Nov2014

At twenty-nine, Jade Engel is at a crossroad in her life, and though her family loves her to bits, they can be a little stiff with what they want for their children. Jade is back in her hometown after quitting her marketing job to spend the holidays before she heads off to university. She loves her town, she loves the holidays, she loves her family, she loves keeping busy by helping around, and she loves her next-door neighbor, the handsome and charismatic Ben Stephens.

Ben Stephens is a local celebrity and whatever he wants in life is in Starling, including Jade his once a upon a time best friend. And this time he is hell bent on making sure, she doesn’t leave his side forever. Now it is just a matter of convincing her that best friends with benefits, can have lasting and forever benefits.

Jolyse Barnett does a charming job of having Ben being supportive of Jade, as she tries to figure out what she wants to become in life. And with some past pain and insecurities dogging her choices, Jolyse gives Jade the perfect etching of an imperfect woman, trying to become a confident woman and go after what she desires, rather than what others want of her.

“A Light In The Window” is another magical story from the “Christmas In New York” series, written to perfection by Jolyse Barnett.

GOODNESS AND LIGHT – PATTY BLOUNT

GoodnessAndLight-PattyBlount-Nov2014

Young minds can be so impressionable and susceptible to pain and guilt that can be carried into their adult years, and if that pain and guilt cannot be dissuaded somehow, it sure affects lives. Elena Larsen lost her mother to 9/11, thirteen years ago and hasn’t set foot in NY since then. But now with her sister Kara pregnant (hoping to see her HEA coming Christmas ;)), Elena lands in the city of pain to help Kara and stumbles into the charming Lucas Adair, little knowing that she has met him briefly before…precisely thirteen years ago.

Lucas Adair is also a victim of 9/11, where he had lost his mother. Riddled with guilt and pain, he goes down a path of jailed time. But with the help of a friend, and helping the needy, Lucas had the opportunity to get over his loss and guilt and make a better person of him. A chance meeting with Elena kindles his heart with feelings of hope and love, little realizing that he had met her briefly…thirteen years ago at Ground Zero.

“Goodness and Light” is more than just a feel good, second chance at love story. It explores the pain and trauma of terrorism that had ripped families apart and had touched everyone that touched tragedy. It tells the story of two such beautiful people as fate reconnects them one more time, and this time to put to rest pain and guilt and build a future with goodness, light and love.

Patty Blount did a marvelous job of penning the characters of Lucas and Elena and this is my favorite of all the four stories. Looking forward to reading more from this dynamo of a writer.
