Solitude, Oregon has been in solitude too long, and so why not just stir up some evil, betrayal and death. The Rogue Winter Novellas start off with Melinda Leigh taking us back to Solitude and the people fighting for justice and protecting the innocent.

We have left Solitude as Seth and Carly finally accept that they love each other too much to put an end to their marriage. As they work out the kinks in this second lease of their relationship, the death of Carly’s brother’s girlfriend tests their fragile bond. Seth is determined to bring justice to the dead and Carly gives her everything to keep the orphaned baby safe and secure.

Co-written by the author duo Melinda Leigh and Kendra Elliot, the Rogue Winter novellas get off to deathly winter start. It’s always wonderful to re-visit characters from the previous stories to see their continuation after HEAs. And it’s absolutely fabulous to read romantic suspense written by Melinda.

Short and quick, captivating and arresting, “Tracks Of Her Tears” is a fast read of suspense and romance, love and relationships, support and solidarity.

For the uninitiated or new readers, this series would be a great start to get to know two wonderful authors/writers.

As a voracious reader, I thrive on simple, charming and mushy romances and I feed off of convoluted, crazy and evil mind gamed characters created by authors. Both require hard work, immense passion for their characters and getting into the minds of their characters to give them individuality and depth.

Spiralled-MasonAva3-June2015

Book 3 of the Callahan/McLane series, “Spiraled” literally takes the readers down a twisted path of a guy hell bent on creating havoc and targeting law personnel and on the other end of the spectrum, a mentally unstable sister makes Ava McLane wonder if she can ever be sane around her. And in all this mayhem, Detective Mason Callahan questions his stance beside Ava and is he prepared to put a ring on her finger?

As the OSO and FBI try to get to the bottom of mass shootings in public areas by young adults, Special FBI Agent Ava has her own demons to fight as her sister makes an appearance in her life. She questions her support for her sister, her love/hate relationship with her and the guilt she feels for dragging Mason into her spiraling life. And the question remains if Ava can survive the emotional upheaval of her sister, even as she struggles to keep death away from her.

“Spiraled” is just not about a demented guy wanting revenge; it is so much more about the progress of the relationship between Mason and Ava. They may face danger every day in their job, but their personal space is equally affected by their jobs. Kendra does an awesome job of showing the progress of their relationship from their first case to now. The trust and love, the companionship and support, the maturity and understanding of each other, is what makes them stand apart and be able to handle the fears and insecurities in their lives.

“Spiraled” is another of Kendra Elliot’s crowning glory, that keeps you guessing of the end game, and the narration of story and placement of situations is just apt and engrossing. And yes it can be read as a stand-alone, but you’ll be tempted to read how Ava and Mason met in the first place.

Kendra Elliot’s third installment in the Callahan/McLane Series, “Spiraled” is all set to take the readers into a nightmare of danger and death, testing the very foundation of their love and trust, and will their relationship spiral out of control as Ava’s twin Jayne plays havoc in their lives…

 BLURB:Spiralled-MasonAva3-June2015

FBI Special Agent Ava McLane solves crimes; she doesn’t witness them. When she’s trapped in a mall without her weapon as a shooter picks off victims, she hides with a wounded teen and prays for her survival.

But that’s only the beginning…

An epidemic of mass shootings has been launched across Oregon. The young shooters terrify the public, committing random murders before taking their own lives. The task force assembled to solve the case—which includes Ava’s boyfriend, detective Mason Callahan—remains stumped. And on top of this chaos, Ava’s troubled twin sister reappears, throwing Ava’s already-tumultuous life into a tailspin.

An old-fashioned cop with a strong sense of duty, Mason struggles to find the cause of the shootings as the workaholic Ava spins ever closer to breaking down. But can one detective save the lives of countless innocents—and prevent the woman he loves from going over the edge?

In my world of reading and authors, there are very few that I hold on a pedestal for their writing prowess and ingenuity. In my book, if an author/writer can progress on her prowess from one to the next, a winner for me. Especially in a series where the stories revolve around the protagonists, it’s very important to evolve their relationship, create layers of depth to their characters, only to be peeled to expose their strengths and weaknesses, and the connection that they have with the readers, as they bridge their own insecurities and fears for a future. And Kendra Elliot does just that with finesse.

Bridged-CallahanMcLane2-Feb2015

It’s not easy. It’s hard work and requires immense passion to be able to get into these characters to make them as believable as the next human being. The second book in the Callahan/McLane Series, “Bridged” by Kendra Elliot, is a brilliant narration of a past that haunts one person into killing, and a present that is burdened with guilt and the vulnerability of family and relationships.

FBI Agent Ava McLean and OSP Agent Mason Callahan are knee deep into investigating the murders that seem to be caught hanging at various bridges in the City Of Portland; Murders that leave no clues, or evidence. As Mason, Ava and their team of experts and agents, try to connect the pieces of the puzzle, Ava is drawn into a nightmare of a twin who is the power to bring Ava down single-handedly and test her sanity.

As the team goes into the past to dig through secrets, the present gets more and more ominous taking Ava closer to danger and death. What I most treasured about this book and my utter adoration to the writer is her technique of developing the story, piece by piece, detail by detail and character by character, be it the primary or the secondary. She delves into the pain and guilt haunting the killer as much she infuses strength and trust into the relationship between Ava and Mason. Ava’s twin Jayne is just another catalyst that tear opens Ava to the core, with Mason being her voice of love and reason.

Dripping with emotions of love and trust, tied up with frustration and fear, reeling in pangs of guilt and hatred, drowning in depths of despair and darkness, Bridged takes us over and under to the people who have made a choice to follow a path of evil and those who have chosen to protect until their last breath.

It looks like the town of Solitude, Oregon, may finally put the evil lurking in the dark to rest. “Walking On Her Grave” is the fourth installment, in the thrilling and suspenseful Rogue River Series, co-written by Kendra Elliot and Melinda Leigh.

With sleepy Solitude as Ground Zero for a new drug that is taking lives of prominent citizens of the town, Carly and Seth are caught in the crossfires of danger along with Stevie and Zane as they race against time to put an end to the manufacturers and the distributors.

WalkingOnHerGrove-RogueRiver4-Nov2014

A key teenage witness disappears, and Carly is thrown into danger as she tries to find the boy before he ends up dead. Seth wants to keep his wife away from harm’s way, but with everyone in the town been a suspect, its hard to trust or depend on anyone.

When Seth and Carly get too close to identifying the killer, Seth gets too close to death and Carly realizes she’s never stopped loving Seth and she can’t live without him in her life. Now they have to race against time to bring the killer to justice before Seth and Carly can get a second chance at making their marriage work, and keep their family together.

Walking On Her Grave gives a fitting end to the Rogue River Series. It is a brilliant compilation of four stories, as emotions and relationships are explored, trust and love is put to test, and loyalty and duty goes beyond normal.

For the uninitiated or new readers, this series would be a great start to get to know two wonderful authors/writers.
