As a voracious reader, I thrive on simple, charming and mushy romances and I feed off of convoluted, crazy and evil mind gamed characters created by authors. Both require hard work, immense passion for their characters and getting into the minds of their characters to give them individuality and depth.

Spiralled-MasonAva3-June2015

Book 3 of the Callahan/McLane series, “Spiraled” literally takes the readers down a twisted path of a guy hell bent on creating havoc and targeting law personnel and on the other end of the spectrum, a mentally unstable sister makes Ava McLane wonder if she can ever be sane around her. And in all this mayhem, Detective Mason Callahan questions his stance beside Ava and is he prepared to put a ring on her finger?

As the OSO and FBI try to get to the bottom of mass shootings in public areas by young adults, Special FBI Agent Ava has her own demons to fight as her sister makes an appearance in her life. She questions her support for her sister, her love/hate relationship with her and the guilt she feels for dragging Mason into her spiraling life. And the question remains if Ava can survive the emotional upheaval of her sister, even as she struggles to keep death away from her.

“Spiraled” is just not about a demented guy wanting revenge; it is so much more about the progress of the relationship between Mason and Ava. They may face danger every day in their job, but their personal space is equally affected by their jobs. Kendra does an awesome job of showing the progress of their relationship from their first case to now. The trust and love, the companionship and support, the maturity and understanding of each other, is what makes them stand apart and be able to handle the fears and insecurities in their lives.

“Spiraled” is another of Kendra Elliot’s crowning glory, that keeps you guessing of the end game, and the narration of story and placement of situations is just apt and engrossing. And yes it can be read as a stand-alone, but you’ll be tempted to read how Ava and Mason met in the first place.

Rachel Grant’s “Evidence Series” continues to enthrall the readers with its intensity, excitement and power play of politics across continents.

Book five of the series, “Covert Evidence” takes the unsuspecting underwater archeologist Cressida Porter into a world of danger, terrorism and death that has her running for her life. And covert CIA operative Ian Boyd is hot on her trail, as she becomes the suspect of carrying evidence that may prove disastrous to a lot of super rich people in various countries.

CovertEvidence-Evidence5-RachelGrant-May2015

A simple planned and scouting trip turns into a dangerous game of hide and seek as Cressida tries to comprehend the situation she has been thrown into unwittingly. With Ian guarding her and saving her life one too many times, she has the daunting task of keeping her wits as she decides if Ian Boyd can be trusted.

All Ian had to do was secure the target and the evidence that Cressida was supposedly carrying. He never anticipated the flare of attraction or the desire to protect Cressida at the cost of his mission. And love definitely was not part of his mission. And yet love and trust becomes an expensive weapon that takes him to the edge of death. With betrayal coming in from the inside, Ian has his job cut out, with his career on the line and the Cressida’s life in his hands.

“Covert Evidence” is my favorite in the series so far. I loved Ian with his quiet demeanor yet pulsing with energy and fire. He had so many layers of emotions that were peeled at every turn on the run. Rachel Grant does a great job with his character; I couldn’t help falling in love with him, and the same with Cressida. Her courage, her tenacity and her trust in Ian gives her an aura of strength. Loyalty to her friends and her willingness to fight for her love and friendship makes her even more alluring and brave. And the chemistry and teamwork between Ian and Cressida is sizzling and plain hot.

Mary Burton continues the saga of the Morgans Of Nashville with her second release in the series “Be Afraid”. There is no doubt the writing prowess of Mary Burton as she takes her readers on another journey into a town filled with secrets and murder.

BeAfraid-MaryBurton-Apr2015

Taking leave from her job as a forensic artist, Jenna Thompson comes back to her hometown of Nashville to get some answers to questions that have been dogging her for twenty-five years. She’s lost her childhood in this town and she’s lost her identity and family in this town. Yet circumstances bring her back to the very place that has been giving her nightmares and she can’t seem to escape the eyes that haunt her in her sketches.

Getting back to work after being injured in a bust, Detective Rick Morgan is drawn into a case when bones of a toddler are discovered and he ends up needing Jenna’s expertise to help him with the case. Jenna’s silence and professionalism makes Rick edgy and once her true identity is out in the open, he is surprised how they are connected in their pasts.

With many twists and turns, Mary Burton keeps the readers guessing until the very end. And even as Jenna and Rick are getting closer to the killer, the dots connecting some key characters takes us by surprise. Weaving romance around a mystery, Mary gives Rick and Jenna an amazing clock of strength, courage and tenacity to get to the bottom of the evil creating havoc and threatening Jenna.

Another interesting read, “Be Afraid” would keep you intrigued, interested and glued to the story until the very last page. And the little peak into her next book featuring Alex Morgan will keep you on the edge of your seats.

Anne Stuart is one of those writers with a prowess in keeping the readers glued to pages filled with action, suspense and anticipation. I’ve read her before and really enjoy her style of narration and story development.

Francey Neeley is so in love that she doesn’t see that her Irish lover is a terrorist who believes in harming the innocent and stripping her naked off of her wealth and life. And by the time she see’s his true identity, lives are lost and she barely escapes the shoot-out and hides in the quiet and picturesque Belle Reste to recuperate and move past the trauma she had suffered. Taking care of her cousin’s house and the wounded people who come to Belle Reste to recuperate, Francey is pretty happy to be in this mindless limbo until Michael Dowd; a British schoolteacher comes to recover from a supposed car accident.

NowYouSeeHim-AnneStuart-Mar2015

Michael’s main agenda is to probe Francey about her involvement with the terrorist. Working for the British government and wounded in the fallout with the terrorist, his main goal is to get to the bottom of the terrorist attack and prevent future ones by taking out the terrorist group once and for all. Getting attracted to Francey was never a part of his plan, but he will not think twice to kill her if she’s involved.

As Michael tries to scout Francey, their lives are threatened. With betrayal and treachery coming from within the government, and as Francey’s past catches up with her, Michael is too far in love with Francey and he would lay his life down for her.

“Now You See Him” is an interesting story and Anne Stuart sure keeps the suspense and thrill going. This may not be an adrenaline, spine chilling, nerve-wracking story, but it will keep you glued to your seats, it will satisfy your thriller sense and will keep you captivated to fulfill your sense of danger, adventure and romance.

A pretty neat read!

From “Forgotten Sins” to “Blind Faith” the Sin Brothers have taken their readers on a ride of thrill, betrayal, pain and love. Readers have hurt with them, cried for them, loved with them and endured with them. But now Rebecca Zanetti is giving the Sin Brothers the final battle of their lifetime, to save their lives, to protect the innocent and to give a life to the young soldiers created to be ruthless warriors, by an insane Commander and his entourage of evil scientists.

TotalSurrender-SinBrothers4

The final chapter of their lives finally unites them with their youngest brother Jory Dean. Enhanced, built like a giant, strong as a bull and as human as he can be, Shane had endured torture beyond imagination, yet the insane drive to be alive and with his brothers brings him back from a coma, and to Piper Oliver.

Piper Oliver, the lost and found daughter of the evil Commander is brought in to save Jory from being detonated into pieces. Ultra smart, computer whiz and a master hacker, Piper is not sure who to trust. But as the secrets of the compound come to light, so does her feelings for Jory and the immense desire to save him at any cost.

As they escape the compound and try to outwit the evil forces, Jory and Piper cannot escape the intense desire that sparks between them nor can they resist the lust that consumes them into total surrender with each other. Having to trust each other to save their lives, Jory needs to believe in Piper that she can hack his chip and Piper needs to trust her heart with Jory hoping for a future that is fast getting close to detonation.

Rebecca Zanetti the superlative writer that she is gives a brilliant ending to her Sin Brothers Series with her final story “Total Surrender”, as she brings together all the brothers, finally with the hope of having a future with their partners. Pages of adrenaline, lines of danger and words with passion takes the readers on a fascinating ride of genetically engineered human soldiers with feelings and the thirst to live a normal life.

This series will go down on my list as one of my favorite-to-go to and I will miss these alpha protective brothers immensely. Exciting, arousing and intoxicating, each book can be read as a stand-alone.
